Security theater…
Just like TSA.
GrappleApparatus@reddit
We have one of these “gun dogs” at a mall I used to visit, and they’ve never worked. I think I’ve only went 3 or 4 times while carrying but I believe you can just walk past them without repercussions
ChornobylChili@reddit
Kenwood mall?
Beebjank@reddit (OP)
No Christiana in Delaware
stumpy1218@reddit
I had one of those dogs walk right past me at that mall he didn't alert so idk what he's good for. Maybe Iys bc I don't shoot my carry gun pretty much at all
Beebjank@reddit (OP)
I shoot mine often but I clean that specific gun after each range session. I’m not sure if they’re trained to pick up on gunshot residue or like… ballistol?
APWBrianD@reddit
I'd be tempted to run next door to Cabela's, grab a pound, and sprinkle it in all the planters.
ChornobylChili@reddit
They have the same damn signs
Goofy_Thicc_Bois@reddit
Made me think i was in the ohio sub for a second Lol

I may or may not have a background working with search dogs and how scent trails work.
A single used cleaning patch cut into many small pieces has more than enough scent for a dog.
Properly used, those pieces of patch could theoretically keep a dog or dogs running in confusing circles all day long if you had someone familiar with how scent trails work.
It is unethical to put scent articles on people's strollers, wheelchairs, shoes, bags, or shopping carts without their consent so don't do that.
Do not attempt to mess with the dogs at the Disney Springs Resort complex in Florida. If you do (and pretty successfully by the way) and you're paying more attention to that than you are to your ol lady who wants to shop for souvenir crap, she's gonna get mad and you're gonna have a long ride home. (even if you did a great, but underappreciated job and nobody even suspected it was you the whole night!) Trust. Me.
fuppedduck2@reddit
Disney springs has hefty surveillance and detection systems in place. Seent em pick out an IWB on an off duty cop of surveillance and confront/ confiscate it. Be careful they step big
FFJosty@reddit
They can’t confiscate your firearm, they can just ask you to leave.
fuppedduck2@reddit
They made him put it in a safe in a substation until he left.
FFJosty@reddit
Well I guess I’d be ok with that.
In the end it’s their private property, so as long as they give you options and it doesn’t affect anyone legally, let er rip.
vulcan1358@reddit
Hypothetically, how effective are those dogs if you were wearing the same tennis shoes you wear when you work at a gun range and handled a carry gun that you stashed in your vehicle safe?
Cause I never sniffed.
gunmedic15@reddit
The three words that best describe that are as follows, and I quote:
Stink
Stank
Stunk
FFJosty@reddit
A fat black lesbian security guard at the Disney springs parking garage was fighting with me about my very small assisted open knife being a “switchblade.”
She called her supervisor over expecting him to be like “yep, let’s take him to jail!” and he literally walked up, looked at it, and said “you’re good” and let me through.
Eat a dick, fat black lady.
Bradadonasaurus@reddit
Bless you.
gunmedic15@reddit
I can't believe that any mall is doing well enough financially to afford security dogs in the 1st place.
KccOStL33@reddit
Shit was so bad at 1 of the malls around here that they had no choice. Foot traffic was down bad and they were trying to do anything they could to make people feel safe enough to come shop.

Ball sniffing dogs

“Sir, please ask your dog to stop sniffing my ass!”
My ZAP carry:

FFJosty@reddit
also, they can get fucked.
“Our dog alerted on you for having a firearm, which is against our policy here. We’re going to need to frisk you.”
“You’re going to need to fuck right off.”
Are there states where a private business putting up signs at a place where you can legally carry makes it illegal? Because I don’t want to go to any of those places.
Throwaway74829947@reddit
19 states have such laws (AR, AZ, CT, HI, IL, MA, ME, MS, NC, NE, NM, NY, OH, SC, TN, TX, VT, WI, WY) as of two years ago, and of those states, only five are traditionally anti-2A (Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York, though while Vermont is still quite carry-friendly it has become much worse in other areas in the past decade). It's some odd bedfellows, to see Texas and Hawaii, and California and Idaho, aligned on a firearm issue.
The_Betrayer1@reddit
In Texas walking past a 30.06 sign is a class c misdemeanor and carries up to a 200 dollar fine, I have never actually heard of anyone getting this ticket though. Usually if you are found to be carrying they will ask you to leave and that is the end of it. If you refuse to leave it jumps to a class A misdemeanor and a up to a 4000 dollar fine and possibly a year in jail.
Texas is very strict on if the sign is enforceable or not, and the majority I have seen don't meet the needed requirements for enforcement.
FFJosty@reddit
Those states are fucking gay.
Private businesses shouldn’t be able to dictate law.
Throwaway74829947@reddit
1000%. While I do support private property rights, including the right to control who and what enters your property, such signs should be a purely civil matter, no different from, say, a business not allowing food or drink on the premises, and the government must have no role in enforcing them.
Tyler_MF_Bowman@reddit
If I go to a business that has signs saying not to carry, I don't notice them. If I feel I need protection at your business, then I will dictate how I handle my protection. Anymore, you should have protection on you at all times, whether that be going to your own mailbox, or the seedy, less than desirable areas of town.
FFJosty@reddit
I carry every time I got to Illinois.
I don’t give a fuck if your shithole state says it “isn’t legal.” Maybe if you can get a handle on your star city Chicongo’s crime issue, I’ll leave my gun at home. (I won’t)
WASRmelon_white_claw@reddit
It doesn’t make it illegal but they can kick you out
FFJosty@reddit
Apparently in some (trash) states it does.
See another comment below, fucking mind blowing.
vegetaman@reddit
Prairie doggin it
ET_Gone_Home@reddit
Yep, there's "gun sniffing dogs" at one of my fav malls too. They don't fucking do shit, they legit only sniff racial minorities so cops can frisk them, I'm not even shitting you. Guys white as a sheet can CC around these dogs just fine, but bring in a black guy wearing loose clothing and the dog will be all over him, gun or no gun.
I just want to fucking shop at Hot Topic in peace with my Glock up my ass for fucksake.
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
Sounds like a good mall trying to keep their businesses open.
IamB_Meister@reddit
🎯
IamB_Meister@reddit
Lol, i bet they’re still right more often than not
MrGriff2@reddit
My mall has these too, I've walked right past them and they never alert to shit.
Bradadonasaurus@reddit
Does ball sweat throw them off?
retractthewink@reddit
Ew
DumbNTough@reddit
One more reason to keep a ham sandwich on you at all times.
erishun@reddit
Haha stupid dogs
therealbebopazop@reddit
You wearing a diaper? I’ve noticed they can’t tell if your drawers are PACKED.
Beebjank@reddit (OP)
Them britches are loaded my friend
therealbebopazop@reddit
Godspeed my poopy friend, Godspeed…
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
I conceal whenever I go to our mall and have breezed right by the fuckers every time.
WASRmelon_white_claw@reddit
I thought it was common knowledge that all these dogs are just trained to alert on command.
