Local Bone Broth?

Does anyone here know where I can buy bone broth from a local butcher? I noticed that none of the butchers at the Dallas farmers market were selling broth bones or broth. I would love to get bones or broth from a local place.

Bone broth? You mean stock…it’s just stock. You’re paying a premium for marketing bullshit. Go buy some bones at one of the many Asian grocery stores around town and make an all day stock - way cheaper and better than anything you’re going to buy from someone who is branding their product as bone broth.

ah reddit is a small place. I was wondering if the word "broth" would trigger someone to repeat these talking points. Sometimes I'm lazy, and don't want the house to smell like meat for two days. Maybe I should edit the post to include both bone broth and bones. I know I can get bones from Asian grocery stores, but I want local ones.

The word broth doesn’t trigger anyone…bone broth is just a moronic marketing ploy to sell stock at an outrageous premium to consumers. If you want to pay a premium for no reason, be my guest.
Also, if you want local bones then call around to some of the farms out east of Dallas like Lavon Farms (I think they only do dairy not butchery but I might be wrong).

Broth is made with meat where stock is made from bones. Stock would have more collagen in it and wouldn't be as flavorful as a broth. If they are intending to cook with it, then a broth wouldn't give you as much collagen which would mean a slightly watery-er sauce as it reduces. If they are intending to drink it, then I would specifically be looking for broth rather than stock.

Absolutely looking to drink it.

Hi - I almost hesitate to give up my honey hole, but "Deep Cuts" in Richardson is phenomenal. They are closed on Monday, in which they are doing a 24 hour brew. Most of the time its beef stock/broth, but sometimes they do chicken. So yeah, they have fresh broth/stock on Tuesday and it's the best I've ever had.

This place looks great, thanks

Ah, you're too generous and I appreciate you! Sounds like I know where I will be on Tuesday.

You can try checking around for Stocks & Bondy. They used to sell at Dallas Farmers Market a couple years ago. I think they’ve moved to a different storefront now, but their broths were really good, very gelatinous

Yes, you know what I'm looking for! I'll try to find them.

Old Town Market sells bones. They are just off 407 (Justin Road) where Flower Mound, Double Oak, and Highland Village meet.

oh nice!

I would also recommend Asian Grocery stores for broth/bones. I’ve seen bones at Tom Thumb before but they don’t always have

Lots of soup bones at Asian grocery stores. I get mine at H Mart and make a batch of bone broth every weekend but all of them should have bones.
