I’m Japanese and I have a plan to go to Dallas in June. This will be my first time in Texas, and I’m very curious about local foods especially barbecue. If you have any recommendations (place, price etc )please share them .

For price, any bbq worth having is going to be expensive.
Per personal local favorites in no particular order:
Cattelack BBQ (only open weds-sat 10-2) Panther City Goldees Hutchins (McKinney location) Hurtado (Arlington) 225 BBQ Zavala BBQ Vaqueros BBQ

Note on Cattleacks- it is only open the first Saturday of the month.

Cattleack and hurtado are on a league of their own. So good.

If you like those spots, you’d cream your Twinkie at Goldee’s.

Favorite hands down is Hutchins in Frisco. Highly recommend dining in so you can experience the atmosphere and free delicious desserts. Bbq has the best flavor, not too salty, taste does not need to be covered with bbq sauce in order to taste palatable, and the apple pie and banana graham pudding are amazing and go very well with the meats.

Hutchins is so unbelievably mid, I would just as rather go to Rudy’s.

Let’s be honest, the BBQ that is debated on here is all pretty similar for someone who has never tried it. I would ask respondents to suggest the best experience for someone visiting.

Agreed, my co-worker that visited from NYC said they didn’t think brisket could be any better than Hard 8. That isn’t to say that Hard 8 is bad, but there are several spots that can check that box without making you wait in line at obscure hours. Terry Blacks would be a good place to start.

Hard 8 is an experience I recommend to people who visit. In fact, the whole Grandscape area is a fun visit.
But for real BBQ flavor, try Terry Blacks.

Goldees
Panther City BBQ
Hurtado (Arlington)

Goldees in Fort Worth, TX. Located at 4645 Dick Price Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76140. Go there early. Expect to pay about $30/lb of meat that you get. Most people can eat 0.5lb-0.75lb at most and take the rest home.
