How hard will it be for me to get a job?

I was set to start at Swift Transportation this monday 4/6/26. But my recruiter told me my regular drivers license was too new (got it July 2025 and my cdl March 2026). That was after he told me everything was clear when I signed on, gave my information, and put a 2 weeks resignation notice for my current employer. Thank God I canceled my resignation, otherwise I wouldn't have a job. But holy fuck the recruiter rejected me a day before my last day at my current job. I was panicking. Will I have further trouble trying to find a job? also I don't much driving experience either, I can't afford a car so I technically have no incidents or record. But I did pass my cdl test, so 🤷

I think you should consider driving with regular license for at least 5 years before considering a semi does not compare and I learned a lot my first few years of driving when I was 18-20 year old with my regulars. Right now you are the equivalent of a new born

I think it’s a great idea to have your license for a year before being allowed to drive a semi. I personally think it should be more. 2 or 3 years.Try to Apply for residential garbage job and work on the back of a garbage truck then you can also get more drive hours in with another driver.

Swift has got stupid bureaucratic rules. They told me they i have to get a new med card because the last med card i had is 4 months old and they require 3 months , and they always require it for drivers applying. When they are the ones who renewed my med card 4 months ago. So told them I won't continue. 2 weeks later they called me "Are you going to be attending the driver orientation tomorrow?"

Even though there's no federal requirement some states do require having a regular driver's license for at least a year before obtaining a CDL. Many carriers also have this same requirement, even if your state doesn't. I would try again after you have had a license for a year.

Some states require you to have your license for a year before getting a cdl. It’s an insurance thing.

Keep applying. The job market is tight right now. But eventually you will find a company willing to take a chance with you.
