Yes. This is me too

I remember getting rid of all these wires after my ex bailed. He kept all of them and never ever went back to find one to use. He'd whine and demand to go purchase the cable he needed. I literally had a paper box full of tangled cables.
No Thank You
I recycled that entire box.

Iām looking for a power cable for an old Palm Pilot. Not sure which model off the top of my head. Iāll check when I get homeā¦

I just divested myself of all of my lightning cables. I have no more use for them!

Before we moved four years ago I had a basket of mobile phones dating to 2003 including the various chargers. Flip phones, slide phones, palm.pilot, etc. And a pager with the belt clip. They had to bed disposed of but sorry I didn't try another way like eBay ( I was selling other stuff we needed to get rid of there too...)

I keep it next to my intergalactic spaceship.

disco_duck2004@reddit
I recently sorted my different cables into ziplock bags, so I don't have to sort through the cable drawer to find the one I need.
TobyDaMan8894@reddit
Becauseāāyou never know when Iāll need it.
phillymjs@reddit
Yes you doā about a week after you finally say, āIāve never needed anything in this box of junk!ā and throw it all out.
I had a huge box of VGA cables in my storage room at work for years. Finally threw it out, and then Lenovo removed the DVI port on a generation of docks when we still had a ton of older but serviceable monitors that had only DVI and VGA ports. Suddenly I had to scrounge VGA cables wherever I could. Lesson learned.
Astronaut6735@reddit
I tried to resurrect my 80GB 5th gen iPod. It doesn't power on, so I assumed it's the battery. Replaced the battery, but no luck. I'm keeping the cable.
phillymjs@reddit
You shouldnāt have given up so easily. iPods are coming back in a big way, and YouTube is full of videos where people rehab old ones with new batteries, new faceplates and backs, and replace the mini HDDs with adapters that take MicroSD cards.
IntelligentNovel1967@reddit
Forget the cables; doggo is adorable.
Fast-Sea-9604@reddit
Glad I'm not the only one who has all those cables. I still use my iPod nanos (two kinds) and my iPod touch. All of the shuffles died.

I have several tubs of wires.

I had this engraved for my husband one Christmas and realized I ordered the black one and not red⦠Now we had matching ones. This was back when they were around $250 each. He would have been happy with the black. š

The 6th Gen iPod nano was the best. I still use mine every day and have two backups. F using my phone and bluetooth. MP3 players and wired earbuds for life.

My wife was doing spring cleaning and found my box. She said do you need this and I said I might need a cord in there. She then opened our kitchen junk drawer and asked about all the cords in it. I was like maybe I need to throw some out.

pmbpro@reddit
I still have my 80GB iPod Classic, and my iPod Mini (both are Silver). I also have the original cables. I tested them late last year after so many years. The batteries are still great, lasting for hours before running out, and they still recharge great. I was actually shocked by that, more than anything.
However I did see that someone was still selling 3rd-party versions of those original cables online, so people can still get them.
karma_the_sequel@reddit
Same here. I did replace the battery on my iPod Classic a few years back when I upgraded it to use SD card storage, so I expect that one to last for a long time still.

I used to but the shelf life for a type of cable was a bit longer and they weren't as standardized as they are now.
SnooOnions973@reddit (OP)
Iām just lucky with this one, to be honest. They always say, āonly use the original cablesā and we all know thatās never gonna happen. In this case, though, I tried the usb on several other charging ports and nothing worked until I found the original!
