I have a lot of free time at the moment, and I like teaching and learning about foraged food in this area
Ive got a good eye for foraging, I pick mushrooms more and plants less, and im interested in fishing (only for food) and crayfishing. I am no expert but I accept limits in what im comfortable foraging, I dont pick things from pretty broad families, but I would like to meet other people who can show me the ropes, and im sure I can do the same.
Free food is always great, but Im slightly wary of meeting people on the web, im 38m and ill probably remove this post later but if anyone is interested or knows of existing groups id like to know hear

Found a few little decent spots for Amanita Muscaria and some Porchini in Aspley woods and Brickhill woods. Don't know any other local foragers though

can I ask you about amanita?, I hear differing opinions and trust none of them

Long as you prepare it correctly, you can mitigate alot of the nausea that the ibotenic acid gives off. Dry them out so they're cream cracker level of dry/snappyness, then steep them in tea. Discard the mushroom and sip the tea over time and it gives a lovely feeling š

Thanks for the advice

39NB and very interested in foraging groups. The ones involving Parks Trust are neat but expensive. I found CotW last year and would like to expand my knowledge. I love foraging for mushrooms, albeit just for photos. :)

I mostly go to the brickhills for mushrooms, but can find them anywhere really. There is a group from wild food uk on YT - the 'hi im marlow' guy. Its expensive but well worthit from what ive been told, just have to watch the website for the times/ tickets.
Groups are less of a thing for mushrooms, as when people find a good spot, there is good reason to keep it secret, if youre up for it im open to DMs, im gonna delete the post tonight anyway, I was hoping for groups but doesnt seem like a thing

I started foraging on my own, a couple of summers ago, in Milton Keynes. I mostly pick fruits and a few plants. Never dared trying mushrooms. Got ASD so not sure i'd be ready to meet regularly but I can definitely recommend a few books if you'd like!

i will just say the one mushroom everone should try imo chicken of the woods, look for yellow/ orange blobs on trees along the river/ canal, especially on willow and oak. never take it from yew. and eat a small portion first time. im sure everyone learns their ramsons spots around here, but ill say great linford is the best spot i found.
cant blame you for not wanting to meet, im not scared of crazy people in the street, but im still nervous about redditors lol

I keep an eye out, but honestly a lot of the events are aimed at kids, and i have hearing sensitivity so dont bother often
