ULPT request: kids are tearing ATV’s up and down my street

They’re revving the motors so loud that it’s impossible for the parents to not know what’s going on. It’s a group of early teens, probably 12-14. I’ve already watched a Karen flag them down and yell at them, only for them to tear off from her as fast as possible. I’m the very last house on the street, and if they drive down a gravel trail past my house, they’re technically trespassing. What’s a good way to persuade them to stay away from the end of the street and my house? I don’t care what they do as long as it’s away from me

The action of being a ‘Karen’ is appropriate to describe someone doing such. This person wanted to do the same but saw it would be to no avail. This is similar to when you Google something. It colloquially means ‘search’. And in the same boat, people use “negative description” (did you mean definition?) words as terms of endearment. ie. Knucklehead. So that argument is invalid. In most areas it’s illegal for four wheelers /atvs to be on the pavement. Call local police to put a stop to it Now.
Last year my neighbor was going to the store about 4 in the afternoon. When she turned on a state highway she saw several teens on atvs. Running up and down road and on right of way. Next thing she knew one kid crashed into the side of her truck with the four wheeler. She called the cops all the kids ran. Including the one who hit her vehicle. He left the atv behind. The cops ran the serial number found the owner—his Dad.
Dad wasn’t happy at all. Cost him 4,000 dollars to fix neighbors car and him and son got a ticket for improperly driving a four wheeler on state hwy, leaving seen of accident, contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Plus his car and homeowner insurance increased because the idiot tried to file so he wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket.
Call police now before someone gets hurt badly.

WI, IL, and MN all have the VIN or Body Serial Number on the registration.
Might be a better question of which states don’t have any vehicle identifying information on the registration.
At least in my state, you have to register any ATV. Whether someone does on a private sale is another question. But they just start at the last valid registration and follow the chain of bill of sales.

Due to a lot of theft in my rural area the cops asked about 15 years or so ago to put down the id numbers/serial numbers etc. we file them with local pd and county sheriff’s office. It has come in handy with a lot of new people coming into the area. We have had more items go missing. Larger items like go carts, golf carts, even electric bicycles.
It has helped recover quite a few stolen items.

The rest is less obvious, the netting could be left over from setting up the gravel, caltrops could just be bottle bits from rude trail peeps, or hardware from construction projects. Neglect and littering are small fines. Sabotage is a court meeting and some volume of away time.
You could get away with locked Bollards for Pedestrian safety, hand the keys to the city for emergency vehicles. Throw a camera at them so you can get pictures of the ATV guys breaking the locks and pile up for vandalism case.

I’m not saying this will work but You’d be shocked at how much that might do for a group of kids. You’d also be shocked at how calling the cops might push these kids to give up their atvs and maybe get bored enough to trespass intentionally.

Seriously, next time they show up pull a wagon with a cooler down the road holding a giant sign "FREE GATORADE."
They stop you open the cooler with cold Gatorade, Powerade, and water. Have gas can with free gas too. Don't booby trap the gas either be legit. Sit down and chat with the boys see what they're about. Let them know there are some neighbors upset but you were a kid once and as long as they are chill and respectful/quiet on this road you'll leave your cooler at the end of your drive for them. Just be sure they know you don't want to see their trash laying around.
At least one of those boys is super into small engines and likes to "tinker". He'll remember your gesture and now you've got yourself an unofficial cheap small engine tech. Your lawnmower stops working one day and you show up to talk to him he'll remember you as "Gatorade dude" and not "douchebag who threw caltrops everywhere on his road."

I had this issue with dirt bikes and kids ripping up my driveway. I went out there and started recording the kid driving his bike on my road. His mommy came driving over later and was yelling, told her I didn't want to hit him and call the sheriff. Never had an issue after that.
Unethical tip would be throwing nails and screws wherever they are driving to hopefully ruin some tires. Probably not exactly legal though.

If they're going to trespass on a trail by your house, you can modify your trail this way. First, get yourself some heavy duty PPE. Next, find an area with a lot of poison ivy, poison oak, whatever grows in your area. While covered in PPE, harvest as much as you can and arrange it across the trail so that as they drive along it they will be whipping through the leaves. Repeat as frequently as needed until they get the point.

Seriously though. I would have zero issue with these teens if they were using common sense. I have no issue going out and talking to them next time I see them. I won’t be calling the cops yet- we’re in a “good ole boys” town in the southeastern US. Our town already has a huge issue with police not dealing with kids on e-bikes, my hopes are not high that the cops wouldn’t escalate the problem or ignore it completely.
Sorry if I’m not crazy about confronting a large group of teenagers after watching how much they didn’t give a shit when my neighbor confronted them. I guess I was just asking for ways to approach them that would actually get them to listen to me?

The right answer is to call the cops EVERY time. Maybe video and send to local officials. Maybe dump birdseed in the yard under the cloak of night to get a flying poop squad over the family homes or secretly plant kudzu in their yards close to home (iykyk), hack or disable their wifi (a variety of options here), inquire to local sex or fetish clubs on parents behalf. ANYTHING you do that could cause them to crash will send you to prison. If this sub is how to get to prison, then take the advice to set up tacks, barriers, etc. This includes long range squirt guns with urine, air horn blasting at close range when they go by. The challenge is that they are already endangering themselves and others greatly. Any fuel to this and bc they are kids and you are the offender. I used to be that teenage boy, 20 years ago. I think being nice to them and asked them to slow down might help. Being a dick and calling the police won’t help. But, if you do know an officer, ask them to come out, and go knock on the parents door, have him scare the kids a little bit, have him threaten to tow the atvs and motorcycles. This worked pretty well for us kids.
But also, it was just a phase, they’ll get tired of it eventually.

Get a skunk, don't de-glans it. They would rather retreat than spray, so if you are just walking, its fine and they'll keep distance. But if you pursue or startle it, you're in for a rough night. City/exterminators won't relocate it, so the ATV's will be forced to creep through or start carrying arms, that you could also report them for cause then they're poaching on the trail.
