jumping scales

what's the real penalty for "jumping scales" and bypassing risking a chaser. what are the tickets like especially in cali? i'd have to assume you'd get points on your lic and a ticket, and your company would get affected.
asking out of curiosity have no interests in passing scales lol... i know most drivers jump them cause its a waste of time but if you're unlucky they have a photo copy of your truck and company.

Couple months ago the scale exit was full. The cop didn't think it was and chased me down. Ticket was failure to obey a traffic signal. 2 points 150 dollar fine in Michigan

There's a scale house on I-5 north bound in Washington. The scale is lighted with OPEN in red lights and CLOSED is green lights. My wife jumped it because she seen the red lights from far away and assumed it was closed. They pulled her over, took her license and told her to turn around and go back to the scale and go inside. She got a FTO

The battleground scale sucks. Hard-ass cops.
nicerakk@reddit
Is that what it's called? My wife told the cop the red OPEN sign was misleading. The cop basically said "I know, and?"

and obviously you can fight the ticket cause sitting at a full exit ramp or lane or whatever is blocking traffic and is dangerous. if only one would assume. lol

Failure to obey traffic control device.

Saw patrolman chase after scale jumper twice, hotshot both times

I heard there harder on hotshots. Allegedly their inspections are easier and the prices aren't much different. Idk though, never really considered doing hotshot personally. But that's what I've heard hotshot people complain about.

Go to the CDL sub or hotshot sub and watch them argue about what it takes for them to be considered to need a Class A license for the work they do. They interpret the law like they are lawyers arguing in front of a judge.
Environmental-Pear40@reddit
No doubt they want CDL money without actually getting a CDL.

hmm so hotshotters don’t meet the gross weight? i swear i see them hauling certain things and makes me well believe they have a class a lol but just don’t wanna drive a rig

“I have a ford f250 super duty, my trailer sticker says 10,000 gross weight and can hold 3 ford transit vans. Do I need a CDL A?”

maybe hotshots don't identify as commercial trucks so scales don't apply to them hahah.
