That’s actually more accurate than calling them crab because they are literally frozen blocks of pollock mashed up to form those logs, and then covered in crab “flavoring”. I worked at a plant that made them.

I’m personally a huge crab fan. Lobster, not so much. But I haven’t been able to have real crab in years now. Partly because I moved away from the coast, so it’s much more expensive than if I were back home, and the only place I can find it is at the store rather than a restaurant.

Well I think it's safe to say your wife is wrong. Because that's a brilliant idea that I am lowkey disappointed in myself for never having considered doing this considering how much imitation crab I eat. This is just peak efficiency right here. I personally can't stand imitation crab meat. Especially when it's still the whole stick, just has a weird rubbery texture I don't like. But nah that's not that bad.

Next time cut it into inch long pieces, shred it up, mix it with some Sriracha/mayo/whatever ya want then put it in the bun. That's basically all that goes into a sushi crab roll, so you're basically making a cheap crab roll sandwich.

I worked at Subway during the summer of 2012 and they had a fake crab sub (the meat being surimi + mayo) and it was my favorite. I could get a six incher for free per shift and no one ordered the fake crab subs so I'd be able to triple meat it since it'd go to waste anyway, it was probably the best part of working there.
