10 hour shifts is part time for oilfield work šI got a few uncles out there hauling crude making this monthly but as expected, they're renegades(My uncle Bollock pulled a 36 hour shift once) . Also OO. Jokes aside that's solid money for the time put in. Keep your piss clean and stay safe my boy! Get yourself a rig and get OO once the fuels down šš½
I feel like oil people make it seem this simple but is it really? U donāt need to know anybody? Theyāll just bring you in with a Cdl and no prior oilfield exp?
Yeah for the most part. However I see the main issue would be for the oilfield companies not wanting to hire someone without experience would be, a lot people don't understand how much we work, you can literally work 110 hour weeks non stop for months. I did 95 to 105 hour weeks for 4 months straight without a day off once. Most companies have chilled out though, I don't see that much anymore. The oilfield in general is huge, its not just fracking and drilling. There's everything from porta-potty guys to company men. Everything gets delivered in trucks. Hell I even worked in a landfill but 90% of the waste came from the oilfield and it's considered oilfield. I'm currently driving a tandem with contaminated soil from old pipelines and it's considered oil and gas.
Honestly it depends on where you live. Like you're not going to find an oilfield job in Oregon or new Hampshire. Main states are TX, NM, UT, CO, ND, AK, LA some in PA and SOCAL. I'd say mainly TX and CO currently though
You hauling frac sand? I was working for Liberty energy as a sand hauler. It's easy but you drive in all conditions does not matter how bad the roads are frac doesn't shut down. I was doing 6 days on 3 days off. 3 hitches of days then three hitches of nights. 70 hours in 6 days. 25 an hour with a 70 dollar day bonus. After taxes it was 80k a year, 120k-ish before taxes. Decent job but horrible management. I'm doing Monday through Friday at 29 an hour and 55 hour weeks, much happier now.
What state are you in? Here in Colorado the two big frac companies are Halliburton and Liberty. Liberty hauls their own sand, Halliburton hires leasers. Are you hauling sand boxes? We were hauling two sand boxes at a time usually weighing 92k lbs. Really top heavy, take turns under 20mph or you'll have a bad day lol
That's good money for that area, considering a 2 story brick homes in Big Spring TX are like $220k compared to here in NE Colorado where a 2 bedroom 80 year old house starts off at $375k lol. I'm originally from Arlington Texas I worked all over Midland and Odessa. Moved to Colorado about 13 years ago, the have a pretty strong oil and gas industry out here but the pay doesn't match the cost of living
Im young and dumb so when I started I didnt want my money going in anything. But they pay for our medical and dental, I only paid accident. We do 401k but I didnt do it
been trying to think of a investing plan. So far im at, DCA larger amounts as the S&P drops. I figure there should be volatility w oil so high later this yr or next
Low cost mutual funds I think are the way to go. Realize the market goes up and down, and you're investing for a one year return but 40 years. But a lot of people have a lot of different strategies.
Im right about there too with Walmart Private Fleet. Pay period ended today so that will put me at 35k. I can post a pic if need be but I think I have to start a new thread? There are guys higher than me though for sure. Iām not working hard at all though. Pretty sweet.
That sucks⦠Iām not going to argue thatās itās not decent pay.. but even when I was there people would complain about how you canāt make any money in sand ect ect. A dude I worked with took a 30 year mortgage and paid off his home in 4 years in this field
Alot of complainers that dont really know anything/ had a bad experience at some small company. Ive got all my living expenses paid for so ive saved a ton since ive been here
