Worth it

Hi. I just ordered a asrock rx 9070 challenger 16gb. Getting crimson desert with it. The gpu I have now is a rtx 4070 2x OC 12gb. Is It worth it.
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
That all depends on you and the price you got it for
I have a 3080, same thing as a 4070 basically, and I personally could not justify the price for the performance uplift of a regular 9070. Not even when it was $499ish
When the 9070 XT was $599, I thought it was very much worth it

Got it for $790. I live in Norway. So a bit hard for me to get pc hardware. Could go for the xt version but it was sold out. And yea. I needed more vram. But on pc-builds.com on fps calculator I get less fps. Thats why Im asking. Is it still a worthy upgrade?
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
Don’t use fps calculators/bottleneck calculators/websites that use synthetic benchmarks like userbenchmark.com (see auto reply)
Why in the world would a better GPU give you less FPS

Thats why im asking if it is a worthy upgrade xD
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
Guess you’ll find out whenever you get it and test it
xXFrostShadeXx@reddit (OP)
yea. Cant wait. My first amd card. And I just asked AI about fps etc. It made a sheet for me. Should I trust that more? This is in 2560*1440p 32 inch
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
No lmao stop using AI.
Just look at actual benchmarks from reviews online, or YouTube videos. They’ll likely be using high end CPUs to fully utilize the 9070, so as long as you have a good enough cpu for the 9070 you can expect similar response

I have a I7-13700F. And I can only find for the 9070xt
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
13700f is still a really good cpu. Enough for a 9070 XT at 1440p and higher

But I have ordered a 9070 non-xt
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
Then it’s even better for the regular 9070

The 9070 is pretty good value normally (not familiar with prices in norway) and at 1440p only ~9% slower than the XT version. But it uses less power and runs therefore runs cooler.
You got a pretty nice upgrade and especially if you needed the VRAM the upgrade was worth it. 20% perfomance boost on average. And that's not even considering the cases where VRAM matters.
I'd recommend selling your 4060 if you don't need it. It's still a pretty capable GPU and should still be worth quite a bit
xXFrostShadeXx@reddit (OP)
Thx. But I have a rtx 4070 nto 4060 until the 9070 arrives
Calm-Bid-8256@reddit
Was talking about the 4070. My fat finger hit the 6 instead of the 7
xXFrostShadeXx@reddit (OP)
Done that too my self.
Calm-Bid-8256@reddit
You'd get more VRAM and a 20-25% performance boost in raster.
You have to decide if it is worth the cost

But on pc-builds.com on fps calculator I get less fps. Thats why Im asking.

Don't know the site and never used one of those calculators. Especially cause most of those are just really bad.
If it the only difference is the GPU and the calculator tells you the 4070 will get more FPS than a 9070, then the calculator is just straight up wrong.
The 9070 is 10% faster than the 5070 even. It beats the 4070 easy.
For GPU comparison i always recommend techpowerup as a website. Some channels that do benchmarks are hardware unboxed, Daniel Owens and Ancient gameplays.
I'm 100% sure the 9070 will be ahead of the 4070 in every single benchmark

Thx

It's a sizeable upgrade. I went from a 3080 (same as a 4070) to a 9070xt and its been great. Extra benefit was the streaming encoder is surprisingly better than my 3080 was (for twitch)
Nosferatu_V@reddit
But theirs is a 9070 non-XT
theRealtechnofuzz@reddit
then it really comes down to which games they play and if they exceed 12gb of vram at the resolution they play, context which is missing.

Sorry. Play cod bo3 custom zombies, pubg and sometimes warthunder. I play in 2560x1440p at 32 inch and sometimes ets2 and other sim games in 3440x1440p at 34 inch. And in almost all custom zombies it says on steam overlay That 12.2gb of 11.7gb is used.
