I'm watching it for the first time. I've been flying through the seasons. It's so good! I'm on season 5 now. Nearly done! I know how it ends. I'm dreading the day it'll be over.
Seriously, after Soul Possession (or When Fates Collide, if you reorder the second half of Season 6), the series starts back at Sins Of The Past again.
It will never be over! *shakes fist violently in rebellion.
I heard about this show back in 2020 after watching a few fan videos, and while I didn't get to watch it until 2025, I continue to be blown away by the many leaps that were taken to portray Xena and Gabrielle's relationship as a pure and beautiful thing in the freaking 90s!
Unfortunately, it's not as widely known as, say, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, which I heard about but have never actually seen. Even as a younger person, I tend to hold a special place in my heart for older media and things that most people my age have never heard of 😅
Either way, there's something so comforting and homey about a show like this one. Campfire scenes between Xena and Gabrielle are among some of my favorites for a reason. Anyway, please forgive my runaway tangent.
I just watched Buffy for the first time last year as a 30 year old and would definitely recommend. On my first watch of Xena now and just started s4. It’s incredible - I love their relationship so much. A Day in the Life is one of my favorite episodes of any show now.
I'm planning on watching it sometime in the future, for sure! Thanks!
I binged Xena on my first watch and kinda wished I hadn't. I sorta knew what was waiting for me, so I'd recommend steering away from spoilers as much as possible. Season 4 is really something, I loved it!
Tbh, this show had some great filler eps, and ADITL is just one example of that. Another favorite of mine would have to be "One Against An Army." The simplicity of Xena and Gabrielle talking could keep me entertained for a very long time.
This is how I realized thst my 10 year old niece was likely gay. She would hide behind her hands every time Xena kissed a dude bit she was transfixed by these intimate moments between X and G. I was right! Lol
We're so thankful this show existed when it did and now; to provide a beacon to so many needing guidance and just to say that it's ok, if nothing else.
I'm a gay guy so this wasn't my gay awakening, but it was definitely one of my first positive exposures to same-sex couples when I was young and I'll always be very grateful for that.

And don't forget there's plenty of fanfic to keep you entertained! But the show itself gives you more than enough to enjoy.

Yes! Gotta love fanfic. Watching the show has inspired me to start writing again.

That's wonderful!
I've been slowly working on some of my own. The stuff with Hope/Eve and Gabrielle really got to me, to say the least...

I haven't gotten there yet, lol! Looking forward to it.

🎵 This is the show that doesn't end.

I don't know. It still holds a place in my heart, and I remember it fondly, but there is a lot of cringe - for me, at least - when re-watching Buffy.

There are certainly bits that haven’t aged very well but overall I very much enjoyed it. Up until the end of S6 anyway 😅

As an assigned male at birth teen, long before understanding my bisexual and nonbinary self, this too was my lesbian awakening. Lol
