Given the events of the last 24 hours, I imagine this could potentially be worthy of attention.
Took off at approx 1547CST.
I’ll monitor and update if it changes course or drops off radar.
Thoraxe474@reddit
Can you explain this for someone who is dumb and also wasn't watching the news
Known_Leek8997@reddit
It’s the doomsday plane.
Some military aircraft were shot down over Iran today
toasty327@reddit
I get why it's called the doomsday plane but that is a bit of a misnomer.
There is more than one and they are always up. They do a 7 day mission, land, restock, get maintenance and switch out crews then back up for another week. This has happened since the cold war.
Ok_Recording81@reddit
It is no longer in the air 4 hours a day. One is always on alert but not on the air.
DrawOkCards@reddit
Didn't they end the 24h alert under Clinton?
Ok_Recording81@reddit
No.

Thanks for the correction. I must have confused that than.
Ok_Recording81@reddit
No problem.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
IIRc, there are four.
randomquestion11111@reddit
So the U.S bombs Iran for weeks but them shooting down a U.S aircraft and people are expecting nukes to go off?
Early-Sort8817@reddit
That sounds about right when you actually type that out. At least 1/3 of the U.S. wants that
Known_Leek8997@reddit
That’s what this place is for. 😘
ViolettaQueso@reddit
1 was shot down. 2 have crashed on their own, one over the water.
Living_Pay_8976@reddit
Blackhawk helicopter got shot down or at least seen a video of it. Watched it spiral out of control and huge flames shot up behind it within 3 seconds of it starting. Rumored to be 2 Blackhawk helicopters down along with the f15e and the a10.
BASSDESTROYER69@reddit
According to official statements a Blackhawk carrying the crash survivor was hit by small arms fire but didn't take any significant damage. You might have seen an AI video.
ViolettaQueso@reddit
I didn’t see anything video, but even since I’ve posted this, what I though t I knew and verified has changed again.
I wish we hadn’t lost our international reporters that had zero side picking tendencies.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
CBC from Canada often has good coverage on US national news and US international shenanigans. And for the time being we can still access their reporting inside the US. A barrier there though is if they can get info from US gov agencies and officials.
Man, I visited an authoritarian nation once, and when you watch the American news channels there, the “live” news is like 10 minutes behind, and segments will just go to black at times. They just stop the broadcast until the part the gov doesn’t want people to hear is over. Let’s hope we don’t start seeing that here in the US with BBC, CBC, Al Jazera, etc.
ViolettaQueso@reddit
Thank you friend! I definitely follow CBC where I can, they’ve definitely been so much more trustworthy than even my few go tos here.
My daughter is at university BC in kelowna. I rely on her texts too. We sometimes compare and cringe.
Appreciate you.

LeLefraud@reddit
Why would we believe official sources anymore
WeekendQuant@reddit
Idk and unofficial sources could be AI for all we know. We can't believe anything on our phones anymore. The cost to create fake events has substantially fallen with AI. At least with major news it's got people paid to verify the events and can be called out. OSINT is tough because no one can be held accountable.
LeLefraud@reddit
Yup 100%
You just have to wait atp. Breaking or fresh news isn't reliable so you have to wait for mixed reports

So very much appreciate the share. Also wishing you and everyone safe harbor.
Living_Pay_8976@reddit
Yeah, unfortunately we don’t have any transparency within the government we currently have. They seem more hell bent on screwing the US out of its current standing within the geopolitical world. I hope you and everyone you know stay safe, including all you glorious humans who are trying to keep up with what’s going on and keeping everyone updated.
ViolettaQueso@reddit
Thank you for so importantly pointing out most of us all want the same thing in life.
It’s not fancy, it’s not temporary.
It transcends all perceived differences.
It’s harmony. It’s security. It’s access to the basics, the rest comes from interaction with other humans, animals, plants, the world.
MrHouseWasRight@reddit
This is nothing. This plane flies literally all the time.
Emotional-Material-9@reddit
It’s a plane designed to withstand high level attacks. It’s for high ranking officials to escape.
chica771@reddit
Can you explain what the concern is here. Sorry, I need it spelled out lol
Emotional-Material-9@reddit
I don’t really know, but I think it’s generally concerning when it’s up in the air because it could mean our politicians were threatened. Some call it a “doomsday” sign if there is really something scary going on. But also, we’re in a war and either way planes move from one area to another.
toasty327@reddit
As I've said on a couple other comments, they're is more than one and they fly very regularly. One flies over my house every two weeks, can almost set a watch to it.
Emotional-Material-9@reddit
Yeah I get that, but with the specific circumstances going on, I get why it peaks people’s curiosities.
toasty327@reddit
This just gets reposted in several subs whenever someone new to it sees it and you can watch in the comments all of the people that don't know anything about it but want to play into overreacting.
Just scroll through the comments, some are quite funny
cyanescens_burn@reddit
My own doomsday warning sign is the American tech oligarchs taking unexpected trips to their doomsday bunkers in New Zealand or elsewhere in the southern hemisphere. Especially if they take a big security detail and family.
If that happens we might be headed toward real issues, at least domestically.
Remarkable-Potato21@reddit
How would you know?
chica771@reddit
Thanks
lushfizz@reddit
I thought it was for continuity of government, as in someone high ranking is already on board, not for evac of them
TerribleSalamander@reddit
I wonder what kind of defenses/protections it has - probably not publicly available info tho
ViolettaQueso@reddit
Too bad our high level officials are all too much of armchair soldiers to actually go themselves
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
The E4 B plane is America’s doomsday plane. It is able to stay airborne for an indefinite amount of time, and can be used in times of serious conflict.
They do run sorties occasionally, and given the fact that we lost an A10 and an F15 today I would say its flight right now is noteworthy.
itsavibe-@reddit
Indefinitely? lol
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
The official sustainable flight time is “classified”, but most say 7-10 days with refueling.
itsavibe-@reddit
That’s a long way to say not indefinitely lol
ptear@reddit
Definitely
mediocre_remnants@reddit
Not "occasionally", regularly. As in "all the time". And it can't stay airborne indefinitely.
How exactly do you think sharing false information is somehow useful to anyone?
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Verbiage between occasionally and regularly doesn’t make it false info.
I’m simply sharing information. Feel free to move along if you aren’t interested.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Verbiage between occasionally and regularly doesn’t make it false info.
I’m simply sharing information. Feel free to move along if you aren’t interested.
Edit: I see you edited your original comment to add in the bit about a sortie being an “attack” but didn’t want to call it out in a specific edit. I assume to try and prove me wrong.
A sortie in military aviation terms can be used for any training or combat mission.
GodOfThunder101@reddit
You’re just wasting everyone’s time. This “doomsday” plane flies all the time for training and readiness checks. They literally fly every week.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I’m just sharing open source info.
You’re the only one who can decide to waste your time. Feel free to ignore and move on.
HowManyEggs2Many@reddit
It is not noteworthy
Public_Classic_438@reddit
Don’t let the comments scare you. There is a post about this every 2 weeeks
kingofthesofas@reddit
No it doesn't. This is routine and even if it wasn't you don't have information public to know.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
The last time the plane landed in Andrews we hit Iran 5 days later.
But feel free to ignore and move on. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence in your view. Which is fine.
StarsFaithful@reddit
Given the Truth Social "tweet" that came out this after noon about 48 more hours, it does make you wonder.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
That’s what I’m thinking. I doubt nukes will fly, but I could see a ground operation.
StarsFaithful@reddit
Taking into consideration the news today, it looks like you were on to something.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I'm not one to gloat, but I agree. Same plane did a 4.5 hour flight yesterday and landed at Andrews again.
As of this morning Iran has severed all diplomatic and indirect channels of communication. They're going to force Trump to either respond true to his threats, or back out again as usual.
Source: https://www.firstpost.com/world/iran-cuts-all-diplomatic-channels-with-us-ahead-of-trumps-strait-of-hormuz-deadline-13997645.html
StarsFaithful@reddit
Where did the plane take the 4.5 hour turn to? Will we have another TACO or? Appreciate you.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
It’s airborne.
StarsFaithful@reddit
I will be curious what today brings.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Considering Iran is refusing to negotiate, it'll be interesting to see how things pan out. Roughly 8 hours left, hhopefully we get another taco Tuesday.
StarsFaithful@reddit
Please drop a note when it lands?
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Just landed at Wright Patterson AFB
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Can do!
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Yesterday (06Apr) it took off at 1338 and landed back at Andrews at 1803 (local time).
It was broadcasting the whole time, so I assume just a routine flight.
Looks like it's taking off again right now.
kingofthesofas@reddit
This is just confirmation bias at best or most likely not related at all. Like explain how these are related in any way?
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I didn't say that it was. I'm responding to another Redditor.
As I said last week, feel free to move on and ignore. You can always delete your comment so you don't get notifications.

Have a great day!
kingofthesofas@reddit
I am just trying to educate. If you have been educated then I will move on. Have a nice day.
kingofthesofas@reddit
No that is not even remotely true. Those planes launch all the time for all sorts of reasons. There are like a million bloody posts in this sub reddit of people making the EXACT same post as you when these things take off. 99.999% of the time nothing comes of it. Just search the sub for it and you will find ignorant people galore for years and years making the same dumb post.
CPUforU@reddit
Iran, us taxpayers don't need it. It's all yours.

Update: Plane has landed at Andrews AFB just outside DC.
drjenavieve@reddit
Any update on this? Wondering if it has anything to do with rumors Trump had a stroke?
undisclosedusername2@reddit
Thanks for the update!
I guess we just watch to see if it leaves again, Trump's movements etc.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I have a feeling when it leaves again it probably won’t be broadcasting. We’ll see!

This plane has been "live" every few days for months. Look at the flight history. Another routine flight. Much wow
MaxRenn@reddit
This is my biggest fucking gripe with this sub. Thank you for pointing this out.

GoldenHeartDaddy@reddit
And 2 BlackHawks and a Preditor drone with a man portable launcher.
AccordingBiscotti600@reddit
and your thought process here is that trump is launching a nuke in response?
:D
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Absolutely not. If the nukes start flying we’re all screwed.
I’m leaning towards a ground invasion. Most likely target will be Kharg Island. My assumption is POTUS knows a mainland invasion would cost dearly, and is a no-win scenario. Iran isn’t Iraq or Afghanistan.
I imagine we’ll be boots on the ground by early next week in an attempt to financially starve Iran. If we take Kharg there is a chance to economically defeat them.
In my opinion, it’s still a stupid choice and we shouldn’t be fighting Israel’s war. If Israel is so obsessed with destroying Iran, let them do it without the loss of American lives.
nw342@reddit
And a blackhawk, plus 3 drones
cyanescens_burn@reddit
Is it possible those were being used for search and rescue for the original downed fighter pilot?
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)

humanredditor45@reddit

2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I don’t believe they’ve confirmed any helicopters went down. Only that they were “hit”.
antinomya@reddit
There's one video with it going 'very' down
FutureThought4936@reddit
I'd exercise extreme caution about any videos purporting to show an aircraft getting shot down without other verification. Pro-Iranian sources are constantly posting ai generated or otherwise fake videos of us aircraft being shot down, it's almost never real.
Reasonable-Truck-874@reddit
I thought we’d retired the venerable hog.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
They were due to be retired but extended their service life.
bekindrefindyaself@reddit
What happened today fam
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
Multiple airframes were lost. Specifically an F15 and an A10.
The F15 has been confirmed as shot down, the A10 loss hasn’t been confirmed by enemy fire or technical malfunction.
bekindrefindyaself@reddit
What if I told you that was nothing compared to what's about to happen, what if I told you we are going to lose 2 of those 3 aircraft carriers we have deployed.
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
I would say that there a non-zero chance of it happening. And if it did happen, I wouldn’t be surprised. And as a GWOT vet I still wouldn’t support boots on the ground in Iran.
Let Israel fight Israel’s wars.

I had to look it up: The E-4B "Nightwatch" known as the "Doomsday Plane," is a specialized U.S. Air Force Boeing 747-200 flying command post designed to endure nuclear attacks, electromagnetic pulses (EMP), and enable survival of top military command. With 4 in service, they provide the President and Secretary of Defense secure, long-duration global communications.

It is (one of) the doomsday plane. It can run C&C and can stay airborne for substantial amounts of time in the event of a serious conflict.
ummmmmm-actually@reddit
How substantial? Like stay flying without fuel for days?
ratsmdj@reddit
10-14hrs w/o refueling. Not unless the mobile gas station is up. If thats the case indefinitely
crapklap@reddit
Jet engines consume a lot of oil. Some so high it's measured in quarts per hour. It's possible the engines are modified to carry extra oil, but it is ultimately the limiting factor.
ratsmdj@reddit
Well oil and fuel are two separate components. One is for combustion the other js for tubing...
2dazeTaco@reddit (OP)
The official sustainable flight time is “classified”. But there are estimates that it can stay airborne for between 7 to 10 days with refueling.

E4B flights are harped on quite a bit, and are occasional/routine as part of training and maintenance. But the last time the airframe landed in DC we struck Iran (last June).
JHaul79@reddit
That is objectively not true
FoCoYeti@reddit
I lived in Omaha most of my life. Seeing this plane was nearly an every day common occurrence. The guy across from my childhood home used to actually fly it. His wife was smoking hot and he previously flew apache helicopters in Afghanistan. Nice dude with some cool stories.
