The Chameleon Typhoon

Honestly one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. Basically a Mercedes 500SEC with a somewhat wayward body kit, the Typhoon was the product of a British company that decided it knew better than Mercedes with regard to styling. Not sure what effect that much fibreglass would have on performance, but I doubt it would be a benefit. Of the few that were made, most were sold to customers in the Middle East who evidently saw something in them that the rest of us can't.

You know how scientists have estimated the sounds that dinosaurs would have made based in their bone structure, especially around the nose?
I can only assume this makes an ungodly honking noise.

And has an engine that sounds like a Mk 1 Vauxhall Nova.

I saw one of these, and the 4 door Tornado, at the Patina Collective in Florida. It's just as ugly in person, but somewhat more endearing, because it's just so ugly.
Of all the batshit tuner Benzs, this is by far the ugliest I've ever seen.

It looks so damned much like a Fox Body with a nasty aftermarket kit.

Cocaine's a helluva drug.

Wow I just saw this car on a weird Garrard car-speaker knockoff product box. Everyone in the thread was wondering about the car, let me see if I can dig the thread up
Turbo_Robitnik@reddit
I saw that too. I guess we know what it was now!

It looks like something I would design when I was 6.
ZaphodBeeblebrahx@reddit
It’s funny that it’s a tarted up Merc because it really thought it was gonna be a Fox body Mustang under all that body kit

Holy... This makes 80's Geiger Corvettes look like restrained and modest design masterpieces
Burntarchitect@reddit
Interesting you all should say that - the first thing this car reminded me of was the car from Corvette Summer!
I suspect that looked pretty awesome at the time... and then quickly aged quite badly!
Trainzguy2472@reddit
They made the one in the top right look like a Dodge Aries lol

Thats.. an interesting design...

Different times mate, go look on 1000sec website and see this was par for the course
biglinuxfan@reddit
Not sure if you meant 1000sel, either way I took a quick peek at a few this one seems to have taken more risks with their design even for the time.
I was lusting over these when they came out, I don't recall any quite like this. I love 80's and 90's cars.
But magazines were a luxury and no internet, so maybe I just didn't see it.

It is very odd and evidently designed by a 12-year-old. Even more strange was that the Chameleon company were successful enoughto have their own showroom on Park Lane in London in the 70s and 80s, which even then was one of the most exclusive addresses in the city.
