This really shows the lie of the argument that they couldn't afford to come to Congress or the American people beforehand because they needed the element of surprise. There is no meaningful element of surprise when Netanyahu has been publicly pushing for this war for 30 years. Iran clearly knew an attack was likely to come some day, and has likely been preparing for it for decades now. They clearly designed their defense strategy for exactly this type of war.
