MuphDiesel@reddit
Come on now. He’s airing it out
AKWV80@reddit
No way the driver can see that. "Name and shame"?? The asshol3 should let the driver know instead of focusing on shaming him for something that he isn't aware of.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Actually ☝🏻🤓 the a55hol3 is the person that doesn’t read the details. I did wave him down. You would know instead of assuming. He shrugged his shoulders and said “no English”. Then I yelled TRAILER! and pointed at his trailer. “Name and shame” ??absolutely for allowing one of their drivers to pull that hunk of junk down the road like that. It has tape on the end, so someone knew about it. I guess that doesn’t bother you, because you’d rather sit here and vǐřțüë şíğñǎļ, instead of protecting someone’s kids. Shame on you for not wanting to hold that company responsible. It’s always the signaling with you guys, until it involves one of your kids. I guess someone has to be the adult in the room. Next time don’t assume.
AKWV80@reddit
I just watched the video and assumed that's where it started. You're right, I get it, but who's "virtue signaling " now lol
Proof_Toe_9757@reddit
What a fucking moron, no where near enough duct tape
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
😆😆😆😆
Georgiaboy03@reddit
Just needs more tape!
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Not without slapping its ass and saying, “that oughtta make it”
Georgiaboy03@reddit
True
DriberGlenn@reddit
When you see this don’t film it, get away far away. Is what I do these days.
DepecheRumors@reddit
Looking at the back door he probably knows
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Now I’m not one to assume, but something deep inside of me tells me you’re right
theminnesoregonian@reddit
I'm not so sure. My mirrors are pointed at the road so I can see the cars around me. Not 13'6" off the ground. And there's really no way to pre-trip that. Unless you're suspicious of tape hanging off the back of the trailer. In which case you call it in. And there's a 90% chance dispatch says, "it's fine. Run it."
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Good point. And I did try and wave him down and he just shrugged and said no English. If he knew, he’d just give me a thumbs up. It could really be anything. He may have he may not have. Either way though. 🤦🏻♂️
theminnesoregonian@reddit
Good for you for letting him know. I once drove many miles with a blown inside rear trailer tire. It was impossible to see from my mirrors. I may have driven several hundred more miles unless someone told me to pull over. Even then, I didn't what the hell they were talking about until I stopped, got out, and looked.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
I think the same has happened to everyone. I always wave/cb someone when I see something. What they do afterwards is up to them. But I did my part to maintain proper karma.
Ninja-Storyteller@reddit
Upvote for doing the right thing.
theminnesoregonian@reddit
Right on, homie. We're all in this together.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
And now I got someone on my comments talking about how I didn’t warn him. 🤦🏻♂️why do people not read. Absolutely a company should be shamed for letting that driver take that hunk of junk down the road. Did the driver know about it? That’s debatable. But absolutely they knew of the horrendous conditions of that trailer! That damage doesn’t happen overnight
Annie-Smokely@reddit
what's trucker etiquette about calling the fuzz on a road hazard like this
theminnesoregonian@reddit
It's ok to call the cops in a situation like this. Unless the cop is a superdouche, the driver won't get a ticket. He'll get shut down until the problem is fixed (which he should), but likely no ticket.
Source: I'm a truck driver and I would definitely want to know.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
I’d say use common sense to figure out the severity of the situation. Try to wave em down and resolve it yourself first, because they may have not known. If all else fails. Call the cops. I’m for it. Especially if they’re being an ignorant bastard
Crazy-Cracka@reddit
Is this a violation?
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
I’d assume so
Technical_Lychee_340@reddit
Maybe it’s on the way to the trailer shop? That tape didn’t hold. Looks like that trailer skirt is holding on with a prayer too.
theminnesoregonian@reddit
Nope. Highly illegal to put that on any road if you're aware of the problem. Trailer mechanics come to you.
disturbedrailroader@reddit
That's a shop repair, dude. You aren't fixing that on the side of the road. This is what ratchet straps are for.
theminnesoregonian@reddit
Sure, strap it til you get to a safe haven. Then it's OOS.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Agreed.
disturbedrailroader@reddit
You still don't get it.That trailer needs a new roof skin at a bare minimum. That's without looking at the roof bows or the top rail, both of which are also likely to be damaged. No one is coming out with a 1000lb+ roll of thin gauge aluminum to fix this.
Tow/recovery drivers move more fucked up trailers than this all the time. I should know, I used to do it. Secure your load and get it to whatever trailer body shop the customer wants to take it to.
theminnesoregonian@reddit
You're probably right. I may not get it. I'm not a mechanic and I've never driven a wrecker, so there's probably lots I don't know about. I'm just a truck driver trying to protect his CDL. And I've gotten burned by trusting my dispatch. So when I see something like that trailer? Nope. I'll wait. My career is not worth that load.
disturbedrailroader@reddit
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come off as aggressive as I did. You're 100% right to not want to move this trailer. This isn't something that's normally covered in class besides "call dispatch and then call safety."
SubzeroWins1-0@reddit
Gotta use the proper duct tape man. None of the cheap stuff
Safe_Fail_568@reddit
Looks like they knew about it, they made a bad attempt at a quick fix
theminnesoregonian@reddit
I don't agree. I think someone before him made a bad attempt at a quick fix and said "fuck it. I made my delivery. It's someone else's problem now." That shit happens WAY more than it should. You wouldn't believe how many Jerry rigged trailers I've seen on pre-trip inspections.
Safe_Fail_568@reddit
Some people aren’t always changing trailers, they don’t do drop and hooks
theminnesoregonian@reddit
Well, then.... there's a few reasons to get fucker off the road.
