Instead of having lawn mowers, everyone keeps a pet cow that eats the grass.

Nah, you will be better off with an army of guinea pigs. They will be able to nibble up grass in every tiny nook and cranny of the lawn.
tiera-3@reddit
I tried that - three guinea pigs decimated my lawn - I am guessing they ripped it out by the roots.
wintermute023@reddit
Now I’m imagining a Guinea pig army launching an assault on next door. Rather than miniguns they could have mini guns.
paulin727@reddit
Goats and sheep would be better
Jodanmawashigeri@reddit
Yeah, I hope your yard is about an acre, because cows eat way more than the typical suburban lawn can provide
cbih@reddit
Let's use animals that are a huge vector for human disease. Can't possibly go wrong.
458643@reddit
Also excellent guards

You are all anarchists
UndeliveredMale@reddit
This reminds me of the time I found a calf tethered to a riding lawn mower on someone's front lawn.
silly_goat_moat@reddit
Maybe goat would be better. And did you know you can rent goats to clear your garden
dkstr419@reddit
I would love to have goats as my lawnmower. My yard is full of the noxious plants that goats love. Unfortunately, my city sez no. I can’t rent-a-goat either even for weed abatement.
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
They will eat grass, weeds, tree saplings, tree leaves and branches.. They will basically eat any vegitatian. So if you want to kill your garden..get goats 👍
onemanwolfpack21@reddit
Do you think a goat would eat thousands of fallen apples
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
Yes
onemanwolfpack21@reddit
I might need to get a goat then
IHateMondays0@reddit
That makes sense, but what happens to the cow pats?
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
The pats can be used to create compost but i still would go with sheep. The milk alone can be used for multiple purposes as does the wool. Cows only have leather as a by-product.
Trick_Minute2259@reddit
You can get a lot more out of cow than leather; everything you can get out of a sheep besides wool, and in much bigger quantities. The real issue would be who has a yard big enough to sustain a cow?
Igottamake@reddit
The Pats created a ton of compost in the Super Bowl this year
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
Sheep is a better idea. Wool for clothing, etc... You can milk them. And eventually eat them. Less space, protection/shelter, food/water needed. Goats would be up there if they didn't eat more than just grass..
Sorry-Climate-7982@reddit
Sheep have the nasty habit of eating grass by pulling it up roots and all. Allegedly a major reason for the old west range wars between cattlemen and sheepherders.
ryebread91@reddit
Wouldn't goats be better? I thought sheep eat the grass down to the dirt.
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
Previous comment..
Certain-Classic7669@reddit
How many sheep have you milked? And how many fleeces have you processed into clothes
alicelestial@reddit

I knew people who did that with sheep.

Where do I keep my cow and how do I afford feeding it for the four or so months when the ground is frozen and covered in snow and ice?
rand3289@reddit
Landscapers pay you to bring their cow over :)

Goats
Beautiful-Lie1239@reddit
Goose. They eat grass too. And lay eggs.
wintermute023@reddit
Don’t know about geese (or gooses) but we kept chickens and they eat the grass down to the mud. It was like the battle of the Somme out there. On the plus side, no ants or slugs though, and eggs, so there’s that.
Beautiful-Lie1239@reddit
Yeah they do that. I don’t mention chicken precisely b/c they can be so destructive.
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
Seen a chicken once shoke on a frog..
Beautiful-Lie1239@reddit
I saw my rooster swallow a whole fat mouse. I was 5. Was very impressed. Very.
wintermute023@reddit
They are the most destructive fuckers ever, and we only had a few. We don't have chickens any more.
Hammon_Rye@reddit
It is apparent you have never owned a cow. :)
slashcleverusername@reddit
And millions of butterflies that, one by one, carry all the particles of cow poo away to a nearby forest. It will work perfectly. Except if you go for a walk in the forest.

All I need is a little goat. 🐐
MSGinSC@reddit
My grandfather would close the driveway gates and let his horses graze in the yard.
SummertimeThrowaway2@reddit
The cows bred too much and now they’re killing my grass. If only I could turn them into a juicy, delicious meal.
