Bush Tiny Desk Concert

Gavin and co. delivered a GREAT set! Glycerine sounds perfect in 2026, and if you’ve ever wanted an unplugged Machinehead, now’s your chance.
tallicafu1@reddit
His voice is totally shot but I’ll forever have a soft spot for the band.
keysandtreesforme@reddit
Wasn’t as bad as I feared. Still has that iconic sound, just didn’t seem to have the sustain he used to.
canadianvintage@reddit
He sounds like an old man now 😢
non_clever_username@reddit
Did you watch more than Machinehead?
He did sound pretty rough during that, but sounded decent during the rest. I wonder if he didn’t do any vocal warmups or something.
keysandtreesforme@reddit
Nooooo! Haven’t watched yet
LuxyontheMoon@reddit
His face...
DaphneMoon-Crane@reddit
He normally looks better. I have a feeling this was early. Or early for him that particular day.
Grumpyjuggernaut@reddit
It looks like he has had a face lift, upper bleph, and hair transplant. His eyelids look like they are still healing. Though I was shocked to see he’s 60.
LuxyontheMoon@reddit
I accept. I would even add maybe he needed to drink some water. Honestly, I look kinda like this right now actually from crying over my senior dog crossing the rainbow bridge.
DaphneMoon-Crane@reddit
I am so sorry to hear that!!
LuxyontheMoon@reddit
Thank you so much.

DaphneMoon-Crane@reddit
I took this last summer. 😍
ghoooooooooost@reddit
What are your thoughts?
LuxyontheMoon@reddit
At first I thought age and alcohol, but I also did age and alcohol and it's....different. Maybe filler? Or whatever Simon Cowell did, but to a lesser degree?
ghoooooooooost@reddit
Yeah, it's hard to place what's going on.
djsynrgy@reddit
Noticed the guitar player wasn't Nigel, and then I learned the band broke up in '02.
I'm impressed by the audacity of using the same band name when 3/4 of the original lineup have been replaced: A BLT without bacon, lettuce, or tomato, is no longer a BLT; it's just bread.
renothecollector@reddit
Divorced dad vibes
e3thomps@reddit
Got it in my head that I wanted to listen to what I call "Dude Rock", you know CREED, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, Puddle of Mudd, any guy that decided they wanted to sound like Eddie Vedder.
There's a fantastic Spotify playlist literally called "1990s and 2000s Divorced Dad Rock" and it's ridiculous lol. I don't really consider Bush part of that, but it's on there and it's welcome.
GarblingCumfarts@reddit
This was painful to watch.
Bitter-Egg3258@reddit
ngl that tiny desk vibe would hit different with them acoustic jams fr
CEEngineerThrowAway@reddit
Went full circle of being disappointed to completely sympathetic.
Impossible_Mode_7521@reddit
literally
optimaloutcome@reddit
Gavin still loves to perform. Bush opened for some show we saw last year and you could see how much he truly enjoyed being out there and running in the crowd with the fans. They definitely sound old these days but it was cool to see and be part of.
yankeebliejeans@reddit
Too bad youtube sucks and you get a commercial mid song.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Understood, but this specific performance is a fundraiser, so the ad clicks are going to a cause
yankeebliejeans@reddit
Then splice them in between songs. Just lazy programming.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
With you there!
LeBigMac84@reddit
Somehow this is curing my hangover today
NumberNumb@reddit
This….isn’t very good. I also never liked bush so idk I’m probably biased
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I’d agree if I didn’t have a soft spot for 90s alt rock.
limelight022@reddit
Love the first and second albums, third was meh and the others haven't done anything for me. Kinda wish they just stayed as a legacy band. Also kinda upset Robin was abruptly kicked out.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Agreed. The second and even third phase are really weird and out of place.
Murphy_Dropkick410@reddit
🎵Got a tiny desk, it's better than the rest Green to red, tiny desk🎶
MrNice1983@reddit
Is Bush a good a band?
🎵 I don’t think so 🎵

First “real” concert I ever went to was Bush, Goo Goo Dolls and No Doubt at the Arrowhead Pond in 1996. I actually won the tickets by calling in to KLOS. They were two floor GA tickets that even came with meet and greet passes for after the show, but my dad made me leave before the band came out because it was a school night lol. Incredible show though.
urbanlife78@reddit
It wasn't my first concert, but I remember this tour. I saw them at the Hampton Coliseum. Such a great show, No Doubt impressed me. Gwen was running and climbing all over the stage. Goo Goo Dolls sucked more than I could ever imagine. Bush was peak Bush
BigManWAGun@reddit
+1 Portland no M&G though.
farfanseaweevil@reddit
Me too!
981GTSF90M5F87M2C@reddit
My first real concert as well but I attended the San Diego show!
TheToastyWesterosi@reddit
I saw this same tour when they came to Red Rocks, was such a fucking awesome night.
DagNasty@reddit
You wouldn't be able to stop me from meeting 90's era Gwen Stefani

bcentsale@reddit
I love NPR's tiny desk series!
urbanlife78@reddit
Me too, so many great mini concerts
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Between this and KEXP’s series, it’s all we need
Impossible_Mode_7521@reddit
The KEXP lady weirds me out
Cheezslap@reddit
Not Cheryl, she's a treasure!
Impossible_Mode_7521@reddit
I feel like she hugs people the first time she meets them
CEEngineerThrowAway@reddit
I remember when I had to put in a complaint to our HR lady about our HR lady. I don’t want to be hugged at work, ever; not when we first met, not when I tell you my wife it pregnant, not the day after you have to give the company a speech on workplace harassment. Don’t hug me.
DETRITUS_TROLL@reddit
What's wrong with that?!
CEEngineerThrowAway@reddit

Cheezslap@reddit
You don't have to show me on the doll where they hurt you; I know exactly where it was.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
I know exactly who you’re referring to. Also doesn’t help they cram the station letters into every sentence.
StillSpaceToast@reddit
Too bad YouTube has gotten insufferable. Two ads, then one minute in, it interrupts the beginning of the song with ANOTHER AD.
(Anybody who replies by plugging paid Premium, please pound sand. They were profitable long before they got this greedy.)
Moxie_Stardust@reddit
I entirely gave up on watching YouTube without an adblocker. I tried to play along and allow ads sometimes, but it's just gone too far. I don't watch YouTube on my phone but I understand ReVanced is supposed to be good for that.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
To be fair, it’s a fundraiser, so the ad clicks are going to a cause (Gavin’s divorce j/k)
Dildo_Shw4ggins@reddit
Dude playing the two sets of keys, what a gifted guy. That is not an easy task by any means.
TheGreat_Powerful_Oz@reddit
I saw them in concert last year and they absolutely rocked. Gavin was jumping all over the place and sounded amazing!
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Very cool. His jumping energy is a little inconsistent with Bush memories, but it’s good to see him still at it.
BigManWAGun@reddit
FYI: I was looking for only way out but oh well.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
I like that chorus for I Beat Loneliness. New track, apparently.
hygiene_matters@reddit
Watched this earlier. Totally waffled my machine.
keysandtreesforme@reddit
Yeeeessss!
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
🙌🏼
gloebe10@reddit
Love the boldness to sport a 'homeless pigeon lady from a Home Alone 2' look.
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Divorced dad gets one there
babyBear83@reddit
Gwen went maga and he stayed the same.
Fl1msy-L4unch-Cra5h@reddit
I personally didn't enjoy this performance. It was lacking energy and personality.
Temporary-Jump-2403@reddit
Neat thanks
captain_flak@reddit
I thought that was Stephen Thompson at first.
80s_baby90s_mademe@reddit
Ok, but where's the rest of the band?
Jokierre@reddit (OP)
Well, Dave went on sale (again), but they really just drifted away as Gavin changed more of Bush’s sound to go into electronic and territory they just weren’t into. The current group is hugely talented, though.
80s_baby90s_mademe@reddit
Interesting, I haven't paid attention to them since sixteen stone or whatever it was called. I know he was married to Gwen Stefani at one point but thats about it.
The_Last_Mouse@reddit
Awesome thanks!
