It's what happens when someone has a back yard full of scrap cars, a sawzall, and way too much time on their hands ... and they decide they want an RV ...
VincentNacon@reddit
RV? Dude, that's a hearse.
VincentNacon@reddit
It's the hearse for the rednecks from the hills, obviously.
Drzhivago138@reddit
I wonder if Ford ever seriously considered a FWD Escort-based pickup in the '80s.
RasilBathbone@reddit
You mean like this one?

Drzhivago138@reddit
Yes, but with the US Escort.
RasilBathbone@reddit
ShadowPages@reddit
Nope - they did consider making a Fairmont based ute ... and a few were actually made.
Drzhivago138@reddit
Oh yeah, I know about the Durango. IIRC it was an aftermarket thing on the West Coast.
dr_xenon@reddit
That’s an 80’s ford escort for sure. Wild choice for that. My 1983 carbureted only had 70hp. Even the later fuel injected ones weren’t more than 100hp.
RasilBathbone@reddit
It's a tool built to serve some defined purpose.
Wheelbase is too long for it to have been built onto the existing Escort without it having been stretched. It's roadworthiness is entirely a function of how well it was built. It looks pretty cleanly executed, but it's the parts you can't see that will make the difference. It doesn't seem to have any sort of functional tailgate or hatch though.
Mackey_Corp@reddit
It looks like a homemade camper. There’s a lot of people living in their vehicles out west. This probably has a bed in the back, low to the floor and maybe some storage and small area for a stove up near the front behind the drivers seat. You probably enter by moving the front passenger seat forward. Looks rough but I’m sure it does the job.
VictorClark@reddit
It looks like a Temu Ford Flex
Dragon_Forty_Two@reddit
The Ford Flex looks like a Temu Ford Flex. >!Jk. I think the Flex is cool. I just saw an opportunity and took it.!<
JonKonLGL@reddit
Whoever built it doesn’t even know what it is, it’s just astonishing that it’s road legal
BoysenberryFinal9113@reddit
Not a terrible idea. If it doesn't leak, it's great.

SleepyTime LX
adultagainstmywill@reddit
It’s a long bed ford escort! Ford never made it so metthew had to get after it with his sawzall and some self tappers.
wolftick@reddit
Anything is possible with a sawzall and a dream.

Something you only see at Walmart...or Waffle House.
