Missing Windows clipboard history + OCR (Win+Shift+S) alternative on Pop!_OS — any solutions?

Hey everyone,
I recently switched from Windows to Pop!_OS and I’m really liking it so far, but there are two features from Windows that I miss a LOT and can’t seem to replicate properly:
Clipboard history (Win + V)
On Windows I used this all the time — being able to access everything I copied previously was super useful. On Pop!_OS, I haven’t found a solid built-in or reliable app for this.
OCR from screenshots (Win + Shift + S behavior)
This one is the biggest issue for me. On Windows, I could select an area of the screen and it would automatically extract the text from the image and copy it.
On Pop!_OS, I can take screenshots of selected areas, but I can’t find a simple way to extract text from them.
I’ve tried installing some apps/extensions (like GNOME extensions and others), but I keep running into compatibility issues or “not supported” errors on Pop!_OS.
At this point, I don’t even need a full all-in-one tool. I’d be happy with:
A simple screenshot tool (I already kinda have this), AND
A separate program that can take an image/screenshot and copy the text from it (OCR)
So yeah — does anyone know:
A good clipboard history app that works well on Pop!_OS?
A reliable OCR tool that can quickly extract text from screenshots?
Preferably something stable and not a buggy extension.
Thanks 🙏

CopyQ works well for clipboard history on Linux. It runs in the tray and lets you search and reuse old clipboard items. For OCR from screenshots, try Flameshot + Tesseract or Ksnip with OCR. With Tesseract installed you can select a screenshot and extract the text pretty quickly.

CopyQ isn't working for me; it simply says the area is empty.

Spectacle, the screenshot tool, also has an OCR option since Plasma 6.6.

As others have mentioned, your best bet is probably switching DEs to kde if you want all these features to just work without any fanaggaling. KDE plasma is available for pop_os. Pop_os's cosmic de is also very much NOT ready for primetime, despite them shipping it by default, which is a shame because it used to be the go to "user-friendly" distro, but it's really not anymore.

Normcap -> assign a keyboard shortcut to it, mimics exactly the behaviour of the OCR thing from MS Powertoys.

new kde has ocr in it's default screenshot tool afaik.
