I'm thinking of tinting (black-out) the saloon windows of a catamaran.

I already installed an outside mesh/perforated cover that goes around the windows on a fountaine pajor. Also, I don't like the curtains (no curtains installed at all).
I was thinking of getting a black tint for extra heat insulation and privacy but I was told that those films don't live long on these (non crystal) windows. That they start peeling off / creating bubbles after a year or so...
Any thoughts /experience would be very welcome.

Put the film on the inside of the window.

I use this stuff: Blackout Window Film. It's a static cling film, so it's not permanent, and goes on - and comes off - quite easily.

Pull down blackouts work better because tint works against you at night. So you lose the ability to see if someone has boarded your boat at night. With blackout drapes, you can move them out of the way and see if you have a serious problem.

Have a look at the comments on this earlier post. Some interesting observations such as the film not lasting long and being a pain to get off
