Don’t pull out if the guy parked next to you is trying to get into their cab.

If you see the person (parked next to you) coming back from the store, hands full, attempting to climb into their cab, and you decide to just pull out of the space, while that person is standing there, with their back to your MOVING vehicle…so rude.
The very least, give a courtesy tap on the city horn to give that person a heads-up, that you’re about to pull out of the space.
Absolute disrespect for fellow drivers, and disregard for safety.
Rude.
Rude.
Rude.
Be polite, and wait 30 seconds for that person to climb in and shut their door, before moving your vehicle.
Otherwise, you’re just a nasty, dirty chode.

Or perhaps you could not expect everyone else to change their behavior but change your own instead…..like enter your truck through the opposite side of the truck leaving, that way no one needs to wait because we’re all impatient assholes!!
Brilliant_Sound2596@reddit (OP)
How am I supposed to know if they’re leaving if everyone is idling? No. Don’t be a dick. What if you have a passenger/co-driver in the passenger seat. Have some class.
Also, entering on the passenger side, is expecting me to change my behavior for you, because you have no manners or sense of etiquette.
You sound like the type of guy who pulls his air breaks in front of the scale after weighing, to go inside to get his ticket. Rude.
Cool_Gap5932@reddit
The sound of the brakes releasing could be a good sign a truck is about to move but obviously you are someone thats completely oblivious of his surroundings otherwise you already would’ve noticed a driver sitting in the drivers seat!!!
I dont even need to set my brakes to go in for my scale ticket because i dont even move off the scale before going in and then i adjust my tandems…..of course this is all after finishing up my 10 hour break at the fuel island………its obvious you’re not getting what I’m saying anyway so just continue whining about everyone else’s actions!!

Well, you come equipped from the factory with 2 visual sensors capable of observing the world beyond the sounds of an engine idling. There are large glass windows on multiple sides of the vehicle and you should know by now where the driver is and recognize the signs of a driver preparing to depart. Situational awareness was shit tier on both sides of this issue, but only one of you put it on public display.

I’ve ALWAYS gave a few short honks if I see the guy is outside of his cab doing something. Wait a few seconds for them to move themselves out of the way and I leave.
Norsedragoon@reddit
I see your argument, but raise you: you walked in front of them, saw them preparing to leave (seat belt on, air brakes releasing, presumably gripping the wheel), and lacked the situational awareness to perhaps get out of the way of the big truck preparing to commence motion.
You were both in a hurry apparently, but Newton sides with the multi ton vehicle.
Brilliant_Sound2596@reddit (OP)
I did not walk in front of them. Lots of drivers just sit in their driver’s seats, making phone calls, resolving paperwork or logs.
You’re just defensive because you don’t have respect for other drivers.
You probably also dump your pee bottles outside your driver door in the morning.
Norsedragoon@reddit
So you went to your driver side door from the rear, on their blindside and are throwing a tantrum online because they didn't see you? You have even less of an excuse because you should have been able to hear their brakes releasing, a clear sign they were getting ready to move.
But sure, everyone else is in the wrong.
Brilliant_Sound2596@reddit (OP)
I didn’t do that either. I walked in front of my truck, and he definitely saw me coming. He saw exactly where I was going and still decided to pull out, while I was standing at my driver’s door…which is rude. He should have waited, but he didn’t.
It’s rude. Don’t be an asshole.
Norsedragoon@reddit
So you walked in front of your truck where you could clearly see in their driver seat, likely being shorter than the hood of the truck based on your attitude and with a massive case of main character syndrome since you can't even vaguely accept some responsibility by a simple examination of the situation to see what you could have done better.
So let's see, you are still in their blind spot, their first sign that someone is getting into the neighboring truck is your driver door opening. A door which opens after they already had released brakes and were likely pulling forward when you ignored the obvious signs and ducked between the hoods.
I am simply examining the situation because you both fucked up here, but it's looking less and less like the other guy is primarily at fault. You approached on their blind side, likely hugging the grill on the entire row of trucks since you didn't bother stepping far enough out to actually glance up into their driver compartment and see if they were making obvious prep to leave. Yes many drivers sit there, but there is an obvious difference between sitting there finishing paperwork, or doom scrolling, or preparing to leave.
You have the situational awareness of a goldfish.
Spitfire954@reddit
Agreed. And I think the same for pulling out of a dock while someone is backing into the dock next to you.
I drove LTL and rushed to hit around 20 docks a day and was also a yard dog. I’ll wait the 12 seconds for the truck next to me to hit the dock or at least stop moving backwards before I pull out.
No reason to give someone that gross vertigo feeling and probably throw off their backing to save a few seconds.
THExPILLOx@reddit
Aww c'mon that momentary panic is the highlight of delivering or picking up from busy distribution centers lol
Spitfire954@reddit
Haha Panic is alright. Backing a 28ft trailer between two 53’s that both start rolling forward while you’re backing can make you puke though.

Gives polite tap of the city horn to alert pedestrian driver with hands full, said pedestrian driver then wears freshly bought 44oz slushie on his freshly wash shirt 🤷

You’ll need to translate that to punjabi or whatever the fuck else they speak for the ones in Canada.

Appreciate the tip. I hit the road in two week with my trainer. Awareness is key when driving and not driving.
Purgieeeee@reddit
yeah i dont fault shippers for treating us like shit at this point, the amount of egotistical slobs on the road is pitiful, u guys cant follow directions and seem think u can do whatever u want when ur someone elses yard
Microshlongg@reddit
Most drivers lack self consideration and self awareness so I don’t even bother trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I always expect the worse and still haven’t been proven wrong.

Gee I wonder who did that …
