Understandable even more so if you remember that russia occupies transnistria which would give them a springboard for attacks, just like the second invasion of ukraine.
The EU deal is simply better for the economy and comes without any strings or threads to the sovreignity or the lifes of the moldovan people.
Hopefully their ascension as part of the eu will be fast nd without problems all the best to the people of moldova.

Why are Germans so disgusted by the idea of Transnistria seeking independence? On the other hand, it's perfectly normal for fascists (and Germany has long since been sliding back into fascism) to hate democracy.

Because there is no proof that transnistrians wanted this similiar to other breakaway regions on former sovket territoris lile crimea or south Ossetia.
What happened where short invasions by russia and forcing these people into unequal treaties, perpetuating ethnic and social conflicts in all of thes regions.

There was such a lack of desire for independence that Gorbachev was forced to issue a decree disregarding the decisions of Transnistria's deputies as legitimate. And then there was Gagauzia, against which they staged a "march on Gagauzia," similar to the one the Ukrainian Nazis launched in 1991.
It's worth remembering that it was the US that prevented the Moldovan authorities from recognizing Transnistria's independence, which escalated the conflict.
Russia recognized Moldova, Moldova recognized Gagauzia and Transnistria—and a peaceful peace would have been achieved, if not for the American oligarchs who want to control everything.

Wrong even russia doesn't recognise transnistria despite having soldiers stationed in the country and supporting the economy.
Gagauzin was peacefully rejunited with moldova after negotiation and protections for minoritys something transnistria has refused.
The us has nothing to do with this it's just russian meddeling.

Some people really will defend Russian Imperialism to fight USA imperialism or vice-versa for some reason, unaware that both are imperialists.

You can't apply the Coup d'État against the Soviet Union that split it against the will of the people (Every country had the right to leave the union, and a lot of them wanted to leave such as the baltics, but the majority voted to maintain the union) to the Russian occupation of foreign countries in the 21st century. While I'm a firm defender of the right to self-determination (I myself am an independentist), I'm against Russian imperialism just as I'm against USA's imperialism.

And so Russia's grasp on Europe weakens further.
I wonder what Transnistria will do in the future. The region is dependant on the EU for its exports, the 2025 cutoff of Russian gas by Ukraine has crippled its economy causing the EU to provide a non-repayable aid package to prevent a complete collapse, and with Moldovan integration into the European energy grid the Kuchurgan Power Station is no longer the leverage it once was.
It seems reintegration is inevitable. The methodology, however, is anyone's guess.
