Because its garbage. They are consistently out of spec. I wanted one when I first started out but so glad I didnt make that mistake. Springfield was good long ago now its just Croatian junk.

The Colt is a monolithic upper. It is one piece of milled aluminum. Extremely strong and accurate. Colt designed it in the early 2000s for the military SCAR trials.

Depends on firing schedule, but with a chrome lined barrel like this likely 20-30k or more. More than 99.99% of people will shoot through it

FWIW it's the piston version of these colts that have a wild secondhand value. The DI versions of these have been fairly easy to find in recent years.

Doubt I would ever have to do the work, but the reason I like the AR is if I need to do the work it’s all same same. This thing is sweet I just don’t want to deal with anymore proprietary stuff than I already have to with my guns.

I am not an expert but they have a proprietary barrel nut from my research. But the upper portion of the rail is monolithic; the bottom comes off.
