My point exactly ! The gates have no lions or eagles! Street have sidewalks, it looks that curb is yellowish, that means no parking zone, that directly contradicts Balkan lifestyle. Also too many street lights. But one is mystery to me. Roof angles looks southern (Greece) but at same time leftover gravel potholes looks like snow is regular… maybe northern Greece…
Yeah, the Fiats are a dead giveaway. I bet that no one has more Fiats per person than Italy. Though the grey car in the left corner doesn't look like a Fiat to me.
Are there even houses with built-in roller shutters in Serbia? I am pretty sure there are almost zero houses with built-in roller shutters in Bulgaria. I have seen none. Most were installed later.
I would have said somewhere in Central, Central-South of Italy. The house style and the Fiat were the reason. Still, at first sight, it gave me Portuguese vibes too ahahaha.
There is some PI... (PIZZA?) sign in the bushes, so my guess would have been some western Balkan country... I want to know what that Lion sign means though
Only giveaway is the amount of signs in such a short stretch of road. In Balkans there wont be any signs in small neighbourhoods. Also road marking next yo the sidewalk not common in balkans
Wow,south Italy really looks like Balkans. But why do much different from the north Italy? Also people are different north and south of Italy? I've been to Rome once and to Venice once and I wanna explore the whole Italy. I really love Italy and Italians. Greetings from Greece
Northern has always been richer because of its closeness to the big economies, while south wasn't. Also is worth mentioning that mafia groups were mainly based in southern Italy, so it was hard and risky to invest money there and try to develop at a faster pace.
I also wanna mention that, even though poorer, people in southern Italy are more warm and welcoming and this part of the country has far more beautiful landscapes and historic cities.
I was having a chat with an Italian chap recently. We were talking about Istanbul at first and how the administration let big money construct tall buildings near the sea and block the view for everyone else.
He mentioned that while it's generally not allowed in Italy, some people still built some. I asked if it was a mafia that did it. In my mind, I was comparing it to Turkey, really; because the current administration here is basically a mafia; but a second after I said it, I thought 'Oh, poo, is he going to think I guessed mafia because it's Italy?'
I wanted to make it clear that I was thinking through Turkey and it wasn't a stereotype about Italy. But he was on a roll explaining and then he sort of moved on to a new subject; and I never got to explain myself.
Is that something Italian people are generally sensitive about? Do you think I might've offended him?
I don't think so. Most Italians understand that Mafia and corruption is a big problem here. We had many tragedies in the past years because of this.
(Talking about buildings)In my town many new buildings were raised even though the population is going down, few of them were built even in front of schools and they are mostly half empty. I don't know what kind of agreement the owners of these buildings have with the mayor of this town...
I'd also add the lack of a sidewalk on the right side. We may have fucked sidewalks in many places, like they're either small or have cars parked, but they still exist. This place here has no curb and no sidewalk, the house/restaurant is literally the same level as the street. This is also one sign that it's not in Bulgaria

ok listen… I stared at this way longer than a normal person should 😅
At first my brain goes: “yeah yeah Balkans, I know this place.”
But then something feels… off. Like when something looks familiar but it’s not.
So I start overanalyzing everything like a psycho:
And that’s when it hits me:
This place is pretending.
Like it WANTS to be Balkan… but it’s too… put together.
You know that feeling when someone is acting natural but you can tell they’re acting?
Yeah. That.
Italy. 100%.
More specifically northern Italy… that cursed zone that looks Balkan but isn’t.
This is not Balkans.
This is Italy undercover trying to blend in.
I don’t trust it.
