Have you ever wondered how the Enterprise crew would handle scenarios from other sci-fi movies and shows? For instance.....

Say the Enterprise encounters a derelict ship. Riker, Worf, Data, Geordi and Beverly beam over and they encounter a replicator, the original type not the humanoid version. Then, as they often do to strange things, bring it on board the Enterprise to study it. Then it inevitably escapes containment. What do you think would happen?
With as big as the Enterpise-D is the replicator could easily find a spot in the ship to hide and replicate. Then when the crew first finds the replicators they would inevitably get to a point where they shot their phasers at it, and as Stargate made clear, energy weapons have no effect on them. They were also immune to being beamed off the Asgard ships. Would the Enterprise crew save the day before they were overran?
Also what other sci-fi scenarios would be really interesting to see the Enterprise crew face? TNG vs Xenomorphs? lol
JoskoMikulicic@reddit
Kirk would be the most effective. He would just convince the replicators that their existence is illogical and that they should dismantle themselves.
In TNG it would probably be Data who would find a way to inject himself into their network and find a weakness. It would come either in the form of inputting a command or discovering a way to bypass their protection and constructing an effective weapon that would break the link between their parts.

Haven't dug through all the comments. But a similar thought I've had is the Enterprise D coming upon the Event Horizon.
skynex65@reddit
Gosh that would awful, the D was basically a pleasure cruise. It had families on board, children. The Event Horizon horrors unfolding would be akin to fucking Deadspace without the Necromorphs.
JimHeckdiver@reddit
A Star Trek horror movie would go so freaking hard.
dantheplanman1986@reddit
Oh come on they'd just reverse the polarity of something.
Fabulous-Sea-1590@reddit
That's Doctor Who. A sonic deflector dish would hit hard, though.
dantheplanman1986@reddit
In Voyager, for example, Chakotay ordered them to "reverse the polarity of the hull" in one episode.
The hhhhull
Fabulous-Sea-1590@reddit
I stand corrected. My apologies.
The hull? The hell?
dantheplanman1986@reddit
I know! I was yelling at the TV.
Torlek1@reddit
For the record, I like the fact that Strange New Worlds has adopted the Alien xenomorph into the Star Trek franchise for the first time.
They have retconned the Gorn in quite a few episodes, including their homage to TNG's Best of Both Worlds.
Instead of the corny slow movers in TOS, they are like a killer combination of the Borg and Species 8472 to Christopher Pike's Enterprise.
medicus_au@reddit
Why though? They could have created a new species.
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
Why? In my opinion because Star Trek: TOS would've definitely used CGI instead of a lumbering guy in a suit if they had the technology back then. But that's just my completely uneducated opinion lol.
LeicaM6guy@reddit
Honestly, I would have preferred the corny slow mover - but that’s just me.
docodonto@reddit
They can always have various stages of life, or species variation. Room for slow movers and speedies.
HussingtonHat@reddit
Robospiders are pretty much one of only 2 SG1 villains that the Fed would be really rather worried about tbh. They adapt like the borg and by the end of their bit they've multiplied to ludicrous levels, so that's a big problem for pretty much every high tech society.
The Go'auld are a bugger for subterfuge, but the tech gets wiped out pretty quickly.
Ori....I don't even know man your so fucked.
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
As far as Stargate villains go I think they'd have a real problem versus the Wraith. There are tons of lightly defended colonies across the galaxy, human or otherwise that the Wraith could "harvest".
TheBurgareanSlapper@reddit
I think the Federation would figure out how to neutralize the Ori pretty quickly. It only took a year for the Asgard to devise those energy weapons.
Particular-Hat-8269@reddit
I always got the impression the Asgard was far, far more advanced than the Federation.
The Federation in a thousand years, or more, if the burn hadn't happened.
FedStarDefense@reddit
I mean... just the ship speed alone. Starfleet takes 70 years to cross the Milky Way. Fully powered Asgard hyperdrives can move between galaxies in hours.
Excalibur_In_Space@reddit
Something I like to occasionally think about is how would the Enterprise crew react if they were somehow transported to the Halo universe. Particularly during the Human-Covenant War. Will they try to stop the attempted genocide? What would it take for them to get directly involved (and how far would the Enterprise crew go once involved)? How would they react to the military dictatorship ruling humanity (and, by extension, the relationship between Earth and the Outer Colonies)? How would they react to the Forerunners and the Flood? Could Worf 1v1 an Elite?
I like to go down this rabbit hole quite a bit lol.
RigusOctavian@reddit
So basically “The Final Countdown?”
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
That movie is crying out for a remake! However in the remake they should have the carrier at least stick around for one good battle so that we get plenty of action. I'm actually pretty surprised that in the countless movies that have come out across decades, since The Final Countdown, there hasn't been at least one or two movies based around modern military hardware of some sort being sent back to the past. I think years ago their was talk of a Marine battalion being sent back to the time of ancient Rome and facing off against a Roman army. If I was making a movie I'd have the USS Iwo Jima, a modern amphibious assault ship, be sent back to Roman times and be stuck there. The Iwo Jima can carry a couple thousand marines, VTOL fighters, various types of helicopters, hovercraft and amphibious armored vehicles. On the other hand the Roman army had upwards of 500,000 soldiers divided into 33 legions +/-. The Marines would decimate at least the first few legions but as they ran out of jet fuel, gas for the armored vehicles and ammunition all their modern equipment would soon become as useful as a paperweight. The ship isn't nuclear powered so that would eventually become dead in the water as well.
Meritania@reddit
I think they’d probably try and stay neutral while they found their way back. The Covenant might have other ideas, with a ship full of humans working with a bunch of aliens they’ve never met before.
The halos themselves might be worthy of exploration.
BaRahTay@reddit
Worf vs Arbie would be a great fight lol
CSWorldChamp@reddit
It would be interesting to see Picard, et al, in a similar position as the Battlestar Galactica in the Syfy series of the same name.
Troi would definitely turn out to be a cylon.
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
The Enterprise-D might actually lose to a Basestar, the Cylons usually deploy masses of fighters which could prove to be difficult for the Enterprise to deal with while also fighting the Basestar. There's also the fact that the Enterprise is basically one big networked computer, so once one of the fighters uploaded a Cylon virus to the Enterprise they could just make it fly into the nearest star.
Speaking of which, why are starfighters so rare in Star Trek? Have we ever seen single seat starfighters in Trek? Even the smallest ships tend to have multiple crew members such as shuttles. In all the opponents the various Enterprises and Voyager have faced they've really never come across a space carrier such as a Battlestar or Basestar.
Trvr_MKA@reddit
There was supposed to be an Alien TNG comic crossover that was cancelled
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
Someone else mentioned the TNG crew coming upon the Event Horizon from that horror movie, a Star Trek horror movie would be so cool. I think that should be the genre of the next Star Trek movie!
idol-threat@reddit
The Alien v Marvel comics were great!
Torlek1@reddit
If that had been made, then the TNG comic should have been set in the TNG movies era.
They would be perfect for the Action Picard and Data show.
Adorable-Source97@reddit
Replicators get into a Turf War with The Borg!
xavier1908@reddit (OP)
That'd be fun! Who's your money on, the Replicators or the Borg? Mine would actually be on the Replicators. Plenty of spaces to hide and reproduce on a Borg cube and the Replicators don't usually become hostile until attacked and the Borg have usually let people walk around their cube until they become hostile. So by the time the Replicators start eating the non-organic parts of actual Borg the entire cube would probably be overrun with Replicators, not to mention that the Borg almost exclusively use energy weapons and the Replicators are immune to anything energy based, including being transported, and they aren't going to sit still if a Borg drone uses the spinning blade that some of the Borg drones have at the end of their arm.

I would love to see Picard's face when Ba'al says to him " Kneel before your god!".
And the enterprise would be toast if they met Hathor first.... because Riker would.....you know......Riker
billyhtchcoc@reddit
Would Data be effected by her nish'ta?
To be real though, it would've been cool to see Yar, Crusher, and Troi getting to be more active in that first season.
Pulaski could've been pretty interesting to see in that situation too.
Elmer_Fudd01@reddit
Did you know the actor who played Pulaski was also in TOS.
billyhtchcoc@reddit
Yup. Twice!
Fabulous-Sea-1590@reddit
I just saw one of her episodes yesterday. Return to Tomorrow. It was so good. I really enjoyed Leonard Nemoy getting to play Spock out of character.
Been rewatching the series on Pluto. It's such a delight. I was shocked that my 11 year old even showed some interest. They're usually pretty judgmental of "my" media. Even stuff that's only 20 or 30 years old can get raked over the coals for being hokey looking.
We did discuss the iffy stunt work, gender roles, and costumes. But they were definitely interested. Maybe it's a sign of growing up; but, mainly, I think Star Trek is just that damned good.
Elmer_Fudd01@reddit
Man you knew about it twice! Lucky!
VaporTrail_000@reddit
Yar. More active. In the first season.
Is... or is not... that a double entendre on the scale of "fully functional?"

Let's see, villains the Enterprise D couldn't handle.
Replicators. Eat their tech, become immune, multiply, spread. Beam one out, from the bays? How?
Ori, no Ancients/Alterrans. They literally just walk into the galaxy and delete any resistance. If Q and Wesley stepped in, then you'd get a similar issue about bow or die.
I absolutely believe the Ori ships would nuke the enterprise D after two shots, and probably the E after 3-4. They'd try to negotiate and get blown to pieces as heretics.
The Goa'uld lose, hands down. No quetion. Anubis wins though. Can't be killed, supposedly.
Who else? The Aschen wouldn't be allowed to spread outside of their designated zone.
The Reetou have a star trek equivalent I think, but can't think of it. They're kinda like if the Gorn had cloaking tech, based on strange new worlds.
The Trust is just section 31. The Lucien Alliance are a joke and get blown up in ten seconds, or would surrender.
The wraith. That gets interesting, because I could see the Federation not coping with the Wraith at all. It'd be the Dominion war, but worse, without Sisko.
RaynerFenris@reddit
I’m not so sold on the Ori ships being the winners. For me their weapons are beam weapons similar to phasers in terms of combat style, but with a slower rate of fire and a questionable power supply (when firing their beam weapons their shields wobble). So the question becomes about power of the weapon vs the D’s shields and the power of phasers vs ori shields.
Trek Shields are canonically incredibly strong, and phasers are ludicrous. Someone did the maths based on feats phasers have performed on screen and a ship mounted phaser can put out a stream of energy equal to half the energy emitted by the sun, per shot, and their shields can withstand those shots. Additionally their weapons are multi directional and are able to fire multiple shots in quick succession.
Ori weapons and shields on the other hand haven’t been seen doing enough different things to calculate their output. We know their shields beat conventional weapons, but loose to advanced weapons like Asgard beams and potentially Ancient drones. Are phasers similar enough to Asgard beams? Are they stronger? We know Ori weapons crack regular shields, but need multiple shots against stronger shields so is a ZPM powered shield stronger than a Trek shield? Well, Star Trek has shields that protect star bases, and even some planets using power generators that are commonplace and reliable. The power requirements for the Atlantis shield taxed the ZPM against the replicator beam weapon, and the size of the shield also effected power consumption noticeably, and when a ZPM was hooked up to a 304 Ori weapons could still overcome it. So we have to assume Trek is capable of higher power generation and their shields are at LEAST equal to a ZPM powered shield, but for my money I’d argue Trek shields are stronger and their power source doesn’t run out of power.
I’d say that canonically the on screen feats of trek weapons and shields actually out class the on screen feats of Ori weapons. Though I accept that is a hard sell to the SG community.
KommissarJH@reddit
In the show it is stated that Ha'tak shields withstand 1 GT nukes to the shields without any issues as well as Ha'taks being able to have an output of 200 MT per staff weapon shot.
And they are waaay below the Ori.
FedStarDefense@reddit
Someone didn't do the math on phaser power. That "half the sun's output" was cribbed from a Strange New Worlds episode where someone just stated that that was how powerful the phasers were.
Which is... an absurd amount of power that doesn't match any of the other shows and strikes more as poor writing/misunderstanding of science than it is canon.
Cornflakes_91@reddit
i so remember an episode of TNG where geordy explicitly mentions the (then used) power output of a phaser array on the D, where they were digging into a planet with it to do some geoengineering.
iirc it was some terawatt
GrrBrains@reddit
The Federation might find a few creative approaches to dealing with the Wraith. Maybe starting with simple genetic treatments to make every Milky Way Galaxy species repellent enough that even considering feeding on them would be unthinkable. Eventually they'd work out an ethical alternate food supply which would open the door to diplomacy.
The answer, of course, is tribbles.
Particular-Hat-8269@reddit
At some point I kind of want all the sci fi universes to cross over and just throw canon out the window and have a dumb fun one-off season purely for fan service and 'what ifs?'
Tribbles defeating the Wraith would be absolutely stellar. The contrast in tones would get the hardest laugh out of me.
FedStarDefense@reddit
For sure on the Replicators. 24th Century Starfleet thinks just like the Asgard: The solution to a technical problem is MORE tech.
But then the Replicators just eat that, too.
-Nurfhurder-@reddit
The Replicators aren't exactly too dissimilar than the Borg, hell they actually made a Borg once onboard the Odyssey, and Starfleet hasn't had too much trouble dealing with them. Sometimes the solution of more tech works quite well.
Few-Statistician8740@reddit
The battle of Wolf-359 would disagree with your assertion they didn't have too much trouble.
Bruzie77@reddit
they would have killec Annibus with a shot of chroniton beams
SuperFrog4@reddit
They would beam it into space as energy. Problem solved. Problem staying solved.
Swotboy2000@reddit
If the Asgard couldn’t do that I doubt the crew of the Enterprise could.
mcgrst@reddit
Your doubting the chief? Problem with the Asgard is they've stopped innovating, humans in scifi generally are shown to be much more adaptable than other races. Scotty or Obrien would work out a way to bypass what ever tech they use to block the transporters.
FedStarDefense@reddit
Replicators can resist being beamed.
EvaTheE@reddit
Why not on to a Klingon ship, where they'll be no tribble at all?
Ya_Boi_uh_SkinnyPeni@reddit
I think the last thing you need is Klingon-Replicator Hybrids.

Oh look, a mirror that brings you into the mirror-verse. How quaint.

Why do you suddenly have an evil goatee, Commander Riker?
Jarfulous@reddit
Evil Riker is actually clean-shaven. That's why season 1 was bad, he was actively sabotaging the prime universe crew. They swapped back in a thrilling adventure that unfortunately landed between seasons
-Nurfhurder-@reddit
Considering Picard refused to wipe out the Borg, it would be interesting to see how he would deal with the Replicators, especially the human form alive ones. I can't see the Enterprise-D crew working on a galaxy wide weapon to eliminate them all at once. They would probably focus more on attempting to reprogram them.

I think there is a episode with this plot
EdinburghNerd@reddit
Voyager and Stargate had identical "trapped in a prison down a hole" episodes
bongart@reddit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantasms_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation) That was similar to the concept. Invasive species, weapons had no effect.

Meatloafxx@reddit
"Booby Trap" started off exploring a derelict ship from an ancient war.

I always thought destroying the ancient derelict was gratuitous. They could have left it, and had a salvage team clear the trapped rocks to recover it for the museum.
