We inherited this rifle. It appears to be a 32 cal (or maybe 8mm) rim fire single shot. Has these markings on the left side of the barrel. Any thoughts? Obviously very old.

That's definitely looks like a gun.
Belgian proof marks. Does where you got it from offer any further details? Do a chamber cast and measure if you want to know the exact cartridge.

We believe it was acquired during an uncles WWI service in France.

Can't be totally sure. Definitely European, possibly Belgian or French, late 1800s to early 1900s.

Not super versed on these. Belgian parlor rifle, post 1893 manufacture.
