Buddy bought one of these last time they had them. It’s rough. Really rough. He reached out to them about it being too rough and they basically told him it was good to go. I’ve purchased 2 microbest blems from other suppliers and couldn’t find the blem. Buyer beware.

Ordered one. Just got it. Finish is fine, but edges have serious burs, barely fit in any upper without some real force. Filed the edges down (especially front face of carrier) and it fits. A bit rediculous, not impressed.

Yeah man the last batch of blems musta been bottom of the barrel imo. Like I said previously I have two of them from another vendor and they are great!

One person did ask recently if we thought their blem was possibly too blemmy and if it would damage his gun. The couple pics I saw showed some machine marks/blems on non-contact / noncritical areas that don't affect function (inside rear of carrier that nothing touches, etc, not on the contact rails). Guessing that's maybe your buddy. We only had the pics to go by so if he feels like our assessment is wrong I don't mind swapping for another.

Yeah if you're just gonna use it for backups or part it out, kak seems like the way to go, others can speak better than I can on quality of KAK but it's hard to beat that price. Microbest is the gold standard though, never had an issue with multiple.

They are a good manufacturer. The only back and forth I have heard is that sometimes the chrome plating is not applied perfectly and flakes off, which is just another reason that DLC is a better coating (with less vibes).
Toolcraft makes prettier carriers though.

School of the American Rifle on YouTube made a recent comment about microbest qc taking a downturn.
My interpretation is that at price points like in the post you still can’t beat them, but there is merit in going for a more expensive bcg like solgw or bcm because those companies test theirs pretty rigorously.

WC had some in stock for like $115 a few days ago. Grabbed one and it's marked as a blem but it's not really a blem.

Microbest does individual HPT/MPI on bolts.. For some folks that's a nice selling point, some not. Not many folks do the permatex gas key seal either or the ocks/sprinco springs.
We double check a good many that come through with gauges and haven't found a bad one yet.
Have yet to have one that wouldn't cycle that I can remember. Did have a couple come through missing an ejector.
Have had a couple (like 2) people send theirs back for exchange claiming they didn't cycle, but they cycled fine when we got them back and tested them, so it was probably something with their gun.
Some of the blem chromes aren't as glossy/shiny as others, but the chrome was already more of a matte/satin than polished.
We've gone through thousands of them. I won't say they're perfect because no mfg is, but they're pretty darn good.
