Paid opportunity!! $25 to increase your steps this week

I am a student at Rice University doing a business project where I need to see if truck drivers will increase their fitness levels for a week for $25.
I will Zelle $25 to the first 4 truck drivers that increase their step count by 25% the next week. You can track it through Apple Health.
I am not a scam or an advertisement!!! I am a real student who needs help seeing if truckers are interested in fitness.
I will pay $5 in advance if you message me and show me your weekly step count right now on Apple health. Thank you in advance 🙂

Do you already have your 4?

No! Please send me your weekly step count and I can pay you! I just need the data points

Yea that’s dumb because I drive truck but also run 30 miles a week. Must mean studies think we’re all fat boys and girls.

Then please submit your data! I can pay you $25 and it would be useful for me to have a data point of a truck driver that has a high step count!

What's the purpose of the discovery? It wouldn't reflect an interest in health if someone increased their step count by 25 percent in a week, it would reflect an interest in money. Spoiler, yes....underpaid and overworked people are interested in money.

Hi! I am a student in a business class where we have to run experiments to see if operators are viable. I just wanted to see if I could motivate truck drivers to increase their steps for the week if I paid them.

Yep. But the University's can't fix that all they can do is run study after study which will confirm the problems in the that we know darn well without any study and then the ATA will respond by implementing a few Mickey Mouse changes that don't actually fix anything

All I have to do to increase my step count is wear my smart watch as I drive. Sometimes I get 10k plus steps!

Does spanking my monkey count?

So I appreciate the idea of paid incentive for being more active. The problem is that the industry is literally designed in a way that Fitness is difficult.Â
Truck stops are not designed to walk safely for the most part. They often have little or no places to sit that are not in the actual restaurant area which encourages you to overeat.
Because of the flsa exemption companies routinely work OTR drivers 60 plus hours a week because they don't have to pay overtime. You're so tired at the end of that you're not going to try and go for a walk at a gross rest area at 11pm, lol
Many strippers and receivers will not allow you to walk around on the property, or allow you to leave while being unloaded so you can walk on the street.
I'm sorry to rain on your parade but the fitness crisis and more General Health crisis is created by the government, sustained by the government, and perpetuated by the government.Â
So unless you're willing to go shoot all the business lobbyists and NIMBYs, don't expect things to get better. Truckers will keep dying early deaths and that's deliberate policy that puts profits before people

I have work available that's physical and work that's just drop and hook. What do drivers want? The drop and hook.
I've also never been to a yard where you aren't allowed to walk around. I'm sure it exists somewhere, but nowhere that I've been. Sure, other drivers would probably look at you strangely because you're the only one wandering around, but that wouldn't stop you.
I've even seen fuel haulers do some exercises that don't require going far while loading and unloading. That could be jumping jacks, lunges, toe touches, etc.

Lots of corporate drop and hook warehouses have walking restrictions. Or you will get frequently harassed first by yard jockeys and then eventually a lady with a badge will walk out and start questioning it. So after a while you just don't want to deal with the harassment and you just sit and be fat and don't walk

I bet that truck drivers, on average, are involved in far more crashes than most people. Are truck drivers just far worse at driving? I'd say not. More likely, it's the fact that they drive far more than most people.
Are truck drivers, on average, more of social misfits and pariahs? Yup. Is it the job causing that...or maybe that type of person is drawn to the job?

Good point. And if we really think about it yeah, people do respond to their surroundings, and if they're surroundings encourage a sedentary lifestyle then they're going to fatten up, and it's going to draw in people who like the idea of sitting around all day. It's a vicious cycle

My Apple Watch mistakes driving for walking quite often. Really messes with myfitnesspal tracking for me 😑 I’ll check how many calories I have left for the day and suddenly it’ll say I can have 1200 extra because I’ve walked 65000 steps 😆
