Bluebonnet Trail @ Custer

For years this has been a popular spot for Easter photos. This year, not so much. The whole meadow area near this intersection is practically devoid of wildflowers. This tiny patch alongside Custer is about the best there is. Plus, with the ongoing utility work...well, you get the picture. Hoping for better blooms in 2027.

I believe the bloom is subdued this year because it’s been rather dry? We’ll see if the recent thunderstorm kicks it up a notch.

The last two years the bluebonnets haven’t been great in this area. I’m not sure what’s impacted them this year the drier weather for sure.

I’m pretty sure they sodded some areas of it near my moms house

The area on the Park intersection of trail is much better. It's because the machines and people have been traipsing through here for weeks tearing it up!

We had an unusually hot and dry fall and winter, which is when a lot of wildflower seeds germinate, including bluebonnets. The baby plants begin to grow over winter and bloom in the spring.
Fall in Texas is usually the rainy season and this was the second consecutive very dry fall. I really hope it doesn't continue. It would be catastrophic for our native pollinators.

This picture perfectly encapsulates Plano with the bluebonnets, excavator, and strip mall

It really does

Need an excavator in the bluebonnets photo session.

I’ve lived down here for almost 18 years. And I’ve learned a few constants about here: perpetual construction and bipolar weather.

Not to mention the annual trampling of the bluebonnets for picture time

That, too!

Is there a square in the street busted up?
