So rdna4 CAN scale to low level huh?
DerpSenpai@reddit
The Exynos 2600 has the same CUs of RDNA 4 as Strix Point has of RDNA 3
996forever@reddit
Yes, 12CU, which looks to be MUCH better than what's rumoured about Medusa Point iGP which is actually reduced CU count to 8 RDNA3.5++ and backported FP8 support.
DerpSenpai@reddit
With HBP, Samsung could start selling these for handhelds and it would slap, with HBP you can actually cool the chip and sustain 20W+ if you so want. Make a new bin with normal RDNA 4 clocks and you are golden
996forever@reddit
Arm based though
DerpSenpai@reddit
It still is more efficient in perf/W at lower power budgets even if it has to emulate x64 games. The steam frame is their ARM based SteamOS device
996forever@reddit
Will that work in anti cheat games?
Kryohi@reddit
Has anyone ever claimed the opposite?
996forever@reddit
It’s often cited as a “reason” why amd hasn’t released any rdna4 laptop dGPU or APU.
torpedospurs@reddit
I thought the reason was RDNA4 needed faster RAM than was available at the time? Seems like this phone is using 10700MT/s RAM.
996forever@reddit
“At the time” but Medusa point aka zen 6 APU is still coming with rdna3.5 with some back ported instructions in 2027.

The only real reason was that they wanted to reduce development cost and risks on their client products, while Samsung doesn't need to.
996forever@reddit
Amd half assing the massive client mobile market as always
b3081a@reddit
OEMs generally don't want to pay a premium for AMD chips, and PC isn't a growing market like AI that is worth proactive investing so they probably have to save cost here and there. They did try to bring latest desktop GPU architecture to mobile faster on Phoenix but that project failed miserably leading them to eventually sell the chip for even less.
light_oxygen@reddit
But ofcourse, GPU is a gift from AMD. What can Samsung actually get right at this point?
Exist50@reddit
Definitely not in phones.
Ryujin_707@reddit
Nor TVs. QD OLED is superior to WOLED.
Hell LG display would go bankrupt if Samsung electronics doesn't buy from them.
