The Fieseler Fi-167 carrier based attacker

Built in 1938 in small numbers, the Fi-167 was Germany's answer to carrier based attackers like the Fairey Swordfish. Designed to carry 1 500kg bomb and two crew, the Fi-167 actually exceeded expectation by being able to carry a 1000kg bomb just fine. All in all, it was shaping up to be an excellent Carrier based aircraft. However, Germany failed to complete one major element...
The Carrier.
With no actual carrier to fly from the Fi-167s bumbled around Europe in small bouts of service until 1947, and none survive.

Something about Fiesler aircraft that makes them look like they would be great to own and fly around locally

I'd love to fly a V-1 around but the authorities are once again not on my side...
Jokes aside, Fieseler is an interesting corporation. The Storch was essentially the first STOL aircraft and they had a few other sports aircraft/prototypes.

Did they try to find the tiniest engine possible?

Other than the BF-109T I'd say Germany had a solid lineup of early war carrier aircraft. Which is crazy for a country with no aircraft carriers

When you have elite aviation companies and C-D tier shipbuilding capacity

I seen some lofty plans for numerous types of warships that Germany had that all would've dwarfed the Bismarck until H-bomb threw a fit after it got sunk and cancelled them all.
Hdfgncd@reddit
Those were going nowhere, they didn’t have the time or industry to built a fleet even just able to challenge Britain. The Bismarck class was only so scary because of the threat they posed to convoys. By the time they were launching they were already at least a decade and more like two out of date

… and a tad pointless.
Cliffinati@reddit
I mean not entirely they could still fly from land
Rooilia@reddit
The first one was nearly complete. But they changed plans radically when war broke out.
Admirable_Ad8682@reddit
They also had Avia B-534 conversions for carrier landing training.

The Fi-167 was meant to be the torpedo bomber number of the carrier trio (with navalized Stukas and Me-109s). If the carrier had gone into service the Fi-167 likely would not have been overly effective for the simple reason that German aerial torpedo development was pretty much a dumpster fire.

Why did you post this 18 hours after someone else, with the exact same photo they used in their post?
cloudubious@reddit
Seriously. I went looking for my comment on that thread.

"Draco, what was your grandfather like?"
Well you see-

The Nazis' design philosophy of emulating Disney characters was a callous way of attracting Hitler Youth into aircrew training.

I love this sub.

Without the top wing it kinda has a profile of a turboprop Stuka conversion
