I have both and I prefer the 8TAMR. Smaller package and it's one of the few red dots that my astigmatism doesn't seem to know is a red dot. Super crispy for me and better battery life.

Thanks for the insight, exactly what I was looking for. I’ve got the stig as well and certain dots give me issues but not all. I’ve heard this from others as well that this works well for astigmatism. I have a Romeo1pro and it’s one of the most noticeably clear red dots for me and is just a nice crisp, clear circle. I’ve got to look more into sig red dots.

Something that I don't like about the Vortex magnifier is that the QD arm sticks out pretty far and can get in the way of your charging handle, depending on where you mount it. I had to mount it a few slots forward of where I would prefer because of this.

Both have unlimited eye relief. The UH1 is holographic so under a magnifier the reticle will still be 1 moa and 65 moa. The AMES under mag will be a 3x magnified 2moa and 64moa ring. Under night vision the UH1 will be better.
If NODs aren't your thing the AMES is overall comparable/"better." Lighter smaller and better battery life.
For clarity, I had a uh1 that was perfectly fine but sold. I liked it but the battery life is not a set it down and it'll always be ready to go.

Not that it'd actually apply to many larpers due to the barrier to entry (cost) of NV, but a good number of guntubers with good reps not straight up shilling products had very good things to say about the AEMS (and by extention the 2nd gen AEMS) under nods... and for the price? Tough to beat.

Compared to other prices for the same optic this was the best I've found, in line with other past deals, so I'd say it's a pretty good deal for a new one.
Unfortunately can't comment on the pro x2, but I did place an order for this Vortex.

Looks like a pretty good deal, even factoring in the best prices on here lately (refurb UH-1 at $380 a few months ago at AAoptics and $200 or so new 3x a few months ago at Simmons). This same combo was $599 at EuroOptic 2 years ago from a little search.

Yeah I thought it was a good deal as well, just doing a search the next closest price I found for both was at Midway which was totaling around $760ish.
For just the UH-1, the cheapest I found a new one was at academy sports for $480 after using code VORTEX20, but looks like that's a store pick-up only deal.

Yeah the only good deals for that thing I've seen were the insane Academy sub-$300 deal that I inexplicably skipped and the AAoptics refurb which has held steady around $375-380. Could be argued that you could get one of those and then it could accidentally be crushed by your car for a brand new one under warranty but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
