Car on the Katy Trail this morning

Did anyone else see the car driving on the Katy Trail this morning? About 20-30 minutes ago and driving fast! I’m not even sure where it got on.
Adventurous_Bug_4062@reddit
That will get the 4 deep people walking side by side taking selfies to pay attention!
Day-Trippin@reddit
I think some of the bicyclists are likely more dangerous than that car.
MediumLong6108@reddit
Why is this getting downvoted? Fuck the bikers on the Katy trail during peak hours. Off peak hours only in my book!
user1129user@reddit
And fuck the people that walk side by side in groups of four forcing people to use the opposite lane of traffic to pass ….
gmatocha@reddit
Situational awareness people!
gmatocha@reddit
Because they're saying bikers are more dangerous than cars would be if allowed on the trail. That's stupid.

I don’t get the down votes for my post either. But then again I don’t give a damn either. I spent a lot of time on the trail by myself riding my bicycle and walking with my family.
My wife refuses to go there with our kid anymore. Maybe if it’s totally off peak, but that doesn’t really align with our schedule.
Too many cyclists don’t respect the speed limits. Then you have people walking four abreast, which doesn’t help either. At the end of the day, the pedestrians have the right way over the cyclist. If they want to go fast they can go on the road and mix it up with cars and then they can complain about the cars. It’s a similar analogy.

A jogger on the Katy Trail died after colliding with a cyclist in 2010

I am not surprised by this. More than a few bicyclists don't seem to have common sense. I've been walking with my family and our child was almost hit multiple times by bicyclclist who apparently though they were training for a triathalon swerved into our lane while passing people. We were in the far right of our side and take the pedestrian options wherever possible.
While biking, I've been clipped a few times by others in a hurry. I've seen more than my fair share of cyclists going a lot faster than 20 mph, even when they should maybe do 10, in congested areas. I love to bike fast too, not just in congested area and at peak times.
Then again, you have pedestrians with no sense walking 4 abreast, taking up both sides at times.

I want saw two Dallas police cars chasing down a homeless man running in his underwear on the White Rock Creek Trail.
SpecialMud6084@reddit
Horrifying
D_Dumps@reddit
Hah! I witnessed that too
Diligent_Mulberry47@reddit
This reminds me of the time a car drove on the new pedestrian pass over 75.
MrTacocaT12345@reddit
I remember that. Granted, it bike lane and street were not well marked nor differentiated at the time. It had just opened up.

I think that’s the article I read when it happened. Haha. I think it said the pylons were halfway up and the path looked like a turn to the highway.
Poor chap. Hahaha
Awake_Traditions@reddit
I’ve seen cars on the trail at white rock lake too not even surprised
Stinkfinger_@reddit
Are you sure it wasn’t a maintenance vehicle? Either way, my buddy is a Highland Park cop and he says more cars end up on the Katy Trail than you’d think. Sometimes really drunk drivers, sometimes really old grandmother shouldn’t be driving.
42ndplanetfromMars@reddit (OP)
It definitely wasn’t. It was a woman in her silver/gray sedan speeding down the trail. It was a maintenance vehicle, I’d imagine it’d be a truck, have caution lights, be going slower, etc.
I think it’s probably what your friend said, maybe she was under the influence of something.
Practical_Art536@reddit
I know a shortcut!
Adorable_Technician4@reddit
Is that a Waymo?
dallasuptowner@reddit
I can't imagine a Waymo getting on an unmapped road.
Adorable_Technician4@reddit
I saw one jump over the trail road crossing a couple of weeks ago, going like 30 mph, so that I wouldn't put it past them.
Lightzephyrx@reddit
Oh I can
suburbanista@reddit
It's about time.
Walking infrastructure has dominated public space for thousands of years, and only in the last few hundred years has moto-inclusivity even been considered. Cars and their drivers are just asking to be treated as equals and to not be relegated to the noisy and dangerous roadways.
42ndplanetfromMars@reddit (OP)
Moto-inclusivity 🤣. I agree with you, how dare the pedestrians try and have their own non-car specific safe space!
suburbanista@reddit
Exactly. The fact that bicycles are allowed on the Katy Trail but cars aren't tells you everything you need to know about the bigotry of the people making these decisions.
krollAY@reddit
Katy trail is in the pockets of Dr. Sholls, what do you expect?

Everyone likes to drag the fossil fuel companies through the mud, and yet Big Shoe is given a free pass.
Curious.
ch33zit06@reddit
I heard Big Shoe paid the driver as a psyop.
Ok_Mycologist_6384@reddit
To be fair... I did this once because
It was dark morning and I forgot my glasses.
GPS did one of those 'turn in 250ft' things but wasn't counting down.
I'm so happy no one was on the trail, but it was like 5:30am. WHY WERENT THERE THOSE CEMENT POSTS?! I would've honestly felt better about smashing my car than what I did.
AbueloOdin@reddit
... How? Like what entrance did you manage to go up? You had to have ignored sooo many things to make that happen.
And if you've forgotten your glasses to the point of not being able to identify the road, do you not wear glasses all the time? Isn't your license coded to only allow driving with corrective lenses?
I honestly don't understand how someone accidentally gets onto the Katy Trail, especially to that point.
Ok_Mycologist_6384@reddit
This wasn't Katy trail. It was in rural ish Oregon.
42ndplanetfromMars@reddit (OP)
I’m glad no one was on the trail! There were definitely people on the trail today when it happened…
notamyokay@reddit
I see this on Santa Fe Trail once a month or so, not to mention the 8yr olds on mini motorcycle type bikes every night.
VelociTopher@reddit
Was the driver yelling 'on your left', and everyone was wearing headphones so they ignored them?
42ndplanetfromMars@reddit (OP)
lol on a typical day, them and the ones who are walking four people across so no one can even get around them are the WORST
MediumLong6108@reddit
All of the above and also the ones who think we are in the UK or Australia, walking or running in the opposite direction. We drive on the RIGHT HERE BUDDY!
Jewelzz_@reddit
STOP! lol
