Does anyone still? Do kids still?
I used to be able to do knee and toe rests with ease....now I'm old and busted.

I remember my brother used to do it.

Drug Ball as it was also known

I use to drop acid and hacky sack listening to Led Zeppelin-No Quarter
Recently had kidney stone procedure- Dr asked me what music I wanted to hear- No Quarter and he played it !!!!!!

Awesome doc!

Man, I remember getting a new Hacky Sack, rubbing the shit out of it to make it softer, putting a pen between stitching to remove some beads, and going at it. There was a way to prep your sack.
Can_Comfirm1@reddit
Man, I am 56 and can’t even lift my knees high enough anymore. Back in the day I was great, had a solo record of 347. Good times
reddaddiction@reddit
That's actually pretty wild. 347 is no joke.
tc_cad@reddit
I did. Back in high school we’d move inside, at the basement end of stairwell in the winter months to play. We had lots of fun but twice my friend had kicked the sack up too high and broke a ceiling light.
Aromatic_Occasion317@reddit
I lost mine in a gutter after sending it too high. Still sad about it.
9inez@reddit
My 20 something kids do. And we have done plenty together at family gathering faxing in other family members.
PeacePufferPipe@reddit
We played a lot of it in the army when on base. Had a group of guys and made a decent circle. We got pretty good and would count the number of hits before someone lost it and it hit the ground. Tried to get the number high. Now at 60, I can definitely still do it fine, but no one to play it with. 😎

My college years were all waiting for some boy or other to finish a game
59apache01@reddit
Hacky sack never was big where I grew up and I never played it.
That said, I'm sure with the way my hips and knees are I wouldn't do any good if I tried it.
Thirty_Helens_Agree@reddit
One of the Brewers’ bullpen pitchers got a season-ending injury playing hacky sack in 2024.
Illustrious_You_6210@reddit
Last weekend, I saw a couple of kids hitting a hackey sack back and forth with golf clubs. I was impressed and confused.
Bobby_Globule@reddit
That's called Calvin Ball. The next phase is the stuffed animal skateboard race.

I worked an IT job in my late 30s and our little office group was trying to find a way to get the blood flowing during long periods at our desk. We eventually landed on hacky sack. None of us were any good but just standing up and kicking that little ball around for 2 minutes worked wonders at waking you up.
Eventually we got better and recorded our top score for "hacks". Not sure of the official rules or if there are any but someone said a hack was a successful pass to another player. I can't remember the top score, I think it was in the teens. Our boss was not a fan but didn't stop us, just told us to close the door whenever we did that.
We tried to do about 2-3 minutes of this every hour and I think it really helped with the long sitting.

I love this.
tangodelta22@reddit
I live next door to some college guys who are out on the street with their hacky sack on pretty much any nice day. Warms my Gen X heart.
I've considered joining in to see if I've still got it, but I'd probably hurt myself.
Jax-A-Lope@reddit
I have one and occasionally break it out!
jakexcited45@reddit
Briefly got into it but that was it. Just made no sense to me.
arioandy@reddit
Yup
Mudfap@reddit
Whenever I drop something, my immediate instinct is to go for a foot stall. Not recommended for sharp objects unfortunately.
marcduberge@reddit
Same. That’s muscle memory
Mudfap@reddit
It has saved my phone from cracking countless times, though.
Zestyclose-Smell-788@reddit
This right here. It turned out to be a useful skill

Our Softball team in a hotel league used to warm up with a hackey circle and beers in hand. We took 1st place. The following year most of the other teams were copying our guru warmup….love flattery
10202632@reddit
I was never all that good, but at 57, I wish i could still hackey
Defiant_Comedian1379@reddit
so much fun i cant remember

Ten years ago a wonderful friend of my wife & I crafted a chainmail hackey stuffed with a shred of fabric. It's the perfect sac... It doesn't bounce at all and reflects absolutely flat. Maybe double the weight or more of the original too, you know you're actually kicking something.
Bobby_Globule@reddit
Now and then, by myself. But I have more fun with a tennis ball I kick around the house. It probably drives my poor wife crazy. Against the wall, boink boink
GoatBnB@reddit (OP)
As long as you don't self-serve!
marcduberge@reddit
So rude
baycenters@reddit
Back in high school the people who did it weren't really the people I hung around.
In the '90s though, the people I hung around, did, and we would sack for hours all the time. Talking, smoking, drinking beer, each person with their own style. It was a social thing and everybody was always down. Some of my favorite times.
instantlyregredditit@reddit
I always have mine on me in my disc golf stroller.
Can_Comfirm1@reddit
Please tell me you live in Sacramento
Zealousideal_Draw_94@reddit
The must, I seen them for a sale at a few places, usually closer to the local colleges.
secderpsi@reddit
I was watching our local university baseball game and the announcer was asking questions of one of the players and he mentioned how the guys in his house are obsessed with hacky sack. I was pretty surprised. But I remember my parents thinking it was something from the 60s and 70s and we did it in college in the 90s.
dofrogsbite@reddit
Man I would kick for hours a day.
metricnv@reddit
I used to make hacky sacks by hand out of leather. A friend mailed me his and I made a small repair and sent it back. It was 35 years old at that point.
FletchWazzle@reddit
I will be at hash bash for a few hours on Saturday looking for folks to kick with.
Plastic-Sentence9429@reddit
I always had a few around for some reason. Promotional shit maybe? I never got into it, despite being both athletic, a stoner, and frequently being around people who were doing it.
I'm doing alright physically at 55, but a "a round of hacky sack" makes me want to check my insurance coverage.

“When you and Woody Harrelson are acting in a scene together, are you sad that somewhere there's a sack not being hackied?”
bm1949@reddit
I still do sometimes but it's just really just calisthenics. Also, dirt bag. I broke toenails on SEPA bags.
I was one of the hard core hacky sackers in college. On the mall skipping classes. I've stayed limber but I'm not 20 anymore. The sack is good for a basic warm up at my age.
