Some places are asking almost $70 for an H3 tungsten buffer by itself. Not a terrible deal considering the current tungsten market. Shipping options started at $7 for me.

I run a Sprinco red buffer spring and H3 buffer in my DDM4V7 and Ruger MPR.

It really reduced the felt recoil. I pursued changing it after I realized how much softer the felt recoil was on my $400 ACI Bravo than the DDM4V7 and MPR. After the changes to the DDM4V7 and MPR the ACI Bravo had noticeably more felt recoil. I put Sprinco blue spring in it and either an H1 or H2 buffer in it. I need to test more ammo to make sure all strip rounds reliably and that LRBHO works reliably with any ammo I may run in them. Thus far I think PCM Bronze is the weakest ammo I own. I really don't plan to run that ammo in any AR15 unless I am coaching someone at the range who is recoil shy. In SHTF I would drop to lower buffer weight just to have more assurance the rifle would work even in adverse conditions. None of these AR15 rifle are my primary home defense weapon. It they were I would swap to lower weight buffer.

I am starting to think that H1 should be the default buffer supplied by rifle makers rather than the 3.0 oz carbine buffer but they likely want to save money and lighter and want to reduce as much as possible any complaints regarding failures to cycle properly. A carbine buffer may also hide some issues.

I run an H3 and standard carbine spring in my 6.5 Grendel.
With that being said, I have an extra A5 tube and weight, just need to grab a spring and I’ll be swapping it.

I paired an H3 buffer and carbine spring with a PSA upper that was so overgassed it still cycled with PMC Bronze and assorted steel cased ammo.

I found that LRBHO never worked with a Sprinco red spring and H3 buffer. LRBHO did not work all the time with a Sprinco red spring and H2 buffer. But that was the only ammo I tested that was too weak for those combos and I don't plan to run that ammo in that rifle.
