OK - weirdly enough I have 50+ of these black Eotech EFLX's. Long story short, they were a contract overrun that landed at a friend's LGS, who then offloaded them to me. All legit and direct from Eotech, all around 6 month DOM. No noticeable markings outside of maybe VERY minor during shipping between Eotech, to the LGS, then to me.
All these come with are the OPTIC itself, battery inside, and the screws for mounting. No tools, no box, no manual, no optic plates, nothing.
These are in my hands but I'm waiting on the screws, so all should be shipping by this weekend or Monday (4/6) at the latest.

If you have any issues with a vortex optic that is discontinued they'll upgrade you to a current production model. The venom pistol dots are currently being replaced with defenders.

If you're having battery drain issues they will replace it no questions asked. Otherwise, any sort of irreparable damage to include cracking of the glass. I of course mean during normal use, not cracking it with a carbide tipped punch because their warranty does not include intentional damage.

It'd be cool, but it would have a rough time competing with reflex sights. Holographic tech's extra size, weight, and cost will be tough to justify for most consumers.
I also think the extra weight may be a reliability concern. I don't know what the tipping point is, but a lot of extra weight on the slide could introduce cycling issues.

I'm willing to bet they've been trying. It's just very hard powering an actual laser instead of an LED in such a small package. I'm willing to bet they've got prototypes, but they probably also have a battery life of minutes.

I have a hunch that as a US company, they are either way behind on laser tech or it's just too expensive to use a more efficient laser setup. The Zentinel Defense Vigil has like 10-20k hours battery life vs the EXPS3's 1k hours.

I'm hoping their shift away from military contracts will eventually net us something great like the Vigil seems to be. But I also worry that they're just coasting on remaining contract money, and don't have much to put towards R&D. The incredibly basic EFLX somewhat adds to those worries, but I'm hoping it was a quick turnaround product to fund more interesting projects

with the track record of many other US companies who make small arms related products, who have had long history of military contracts, it ain't looking good. Even if they go all out on R&D tomorrow, if their leadership don't legit rethink everything or get themselves new blood to revitalize their direction, they gonna just coast on their reputation until their market shrinks, employees leave, and it spirals out.
But then again, doesn't Eotech still have NV contracts?

Idk, I feel like red dot emitters do just fine for target shooting. The cost for a holographic pistol optic would be higher than just buying a Holosun and there would not be a significant difference. Also, carrying it would mean it stays on way longer than having it on a rifle for a couple hours per range day. I'd imagine the battery life wouldnt be that great and I'd have to randomly start calculating how long my holographic has been on... Whereas for my red dots I just change it every year and that's that.

Sure. Upon release they had issues holding zero, among other things. Over the past couple years they have fixed a lot of that.
And DPP means Delta Point Pro (footprint) for what optic your slide is cut for.
