What could be causing this to not click fully ? Jammed up first time at the range today
I got it optic cut last week but I took it off it still does it
mildlymisrable@reddit
Hey will you update the sub with what happens next I’m really interested to hear how this gets resolved?
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
It was the striking / fire pin plastic liners all these gun smith clowns were wrong
mildlymisrable@reddit
Glad it’s resolved, still the worst optic cut I have ever seen but I’m happy your guns in working order now👌🫡
DashMcGee@reddit
Dude... it's upside down. It won't work that way.
ArceusTwoFour_Zero@reddit
Who the hell will cut your slide for an optic? They have bare minimum owe you a new slide and a refund. Also, why would you get optic cut for such a cheap gun? Also, that optic cut looked like it was done by a Helen Keller with zero machining knowledge. Did you actually pay for that to be done??? It looks like garbage.
IFeedDogsChocolate@reddit
Not to kick you while you're down or rub salt in the wound, but you got fucked by whoever did that work to your slide.
I would see what they can do about it, but I'd consider that bridge burned regardless of the outcome. They straight raw dawg'd that and sent you on your way.
Redhaze_17@reddit
Refund
IFeedDogsChocolate@reddit
Even then, consider it the last transaction with them.
There's no way they operated on good faith to give OP that to begin with.
mildlymisrable@reddit
Agreed
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
Thanks hoping they Come through with a new slide and refund
mildlymisrable@reddit
I mean I’m not trying to bash anyone or take anyone’s income away but if they don’t make it right for you then you should absolutely let people know exactly what shop did this so others can avoid it. Obviously you know because everyone is telling you but they really did a piss poor job.
mildlymisrable@reddit
Agreed
323x57@reddit
My first thought is not the slide but the trigger or sear springs. It seems that the trigger is failing to reset or the sear isn’t catching the striker. I’d also recommend taking out the striker/firing pin to check for debris and make sure nothing is damaged. If you have the knowledge I’d also disassemble everything off of the slide and check for debris and damage.
abuttfartsinthewoods@reddit
I see what the problem is.
Sonny you have a plastic crap. Get a 1911.
eggiam@reddit
gonna save everyone some time
ReplacementReady394@reddit
TIL Temu does optic cuts
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
What is it?
protogenxl@reddit
high-speed rubbing with excessive tool deflection
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
What should I say to the shop tmr?
JackCooper_7274@reddit
"yo dawg what the fuck is this?"
protogenxl@reddit
This work is unacceptable
get a bunch of optic cut images off Google image search
SplashingChicken@reddit
Jesus, that's gnarly. Looks like it was done with a Dremel and Walmart power drill.
ej1030@reddit
Im a machinist, finishes like this make me cry
Sal-LeMandeur@reddit
It's not bad for steel, just lazy to not finish the entire base with the smaller end mill though and/or do relief under the recoil lugs. Finishing that surface with what looks like a plunger into cut is surely a choice as well.
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
What should I say to the shop tmr?
eggiam@reddit
"My gun no longer functions due to your terrible job."
hitemlow@reddit
The reputable shops' normal cut fee is more than half the street price of an SD9 2.0, so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't support it.
In short, Bubba.
StrikeEagle784@reddit
Bubba strikes again lol
Sharkdart@reddit
LiesofC@reddit
Damn son
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
Fixed it - striker liners were out of wack some how. Sanded firing pin a bit runs great.
OneManGang2001@reddit
Is that an oem trigger? When was it put in if not?
urticate@reddit
Show your “gun guy” this post and these comments. Let him decide what he should do to make it right…
Sal-LeMandeur@reddit
So I was thinking about this - the optic cut may be deep enough that tool pressure sunk-in the hole for your striker channel. Certainly plunging a 1/2" end mill into the middle didn't help.
Take off the back of the slide, feel with a pick inside that channel for bumps. Find a bump: use the back of a drill to fill the channel, raising the bump into your optic cut. Then, gently and evenly file until flat on the optic cut
286893@reddit
Dang bro, feet for free?
Jackson3rg@reddit
Is op sitting on the toilet doing this?
IKIR115@reddit
Would you expect anywhere else?
Much_Juggernaut_4631@reddit
Ah, I see the problem. You see, long ago Ford started practicing identifying the issue, by circling it. As we see here, you have a Smith & Wesson, also... circled.
National_Army1783@reddit
Smith & Wessons are good guns… it’s also not the guns fault, the fault is clearly whoever did his optic cut.
eggiam@reddit
Did it do it before the optic cut? Seems like the striker block is seizing maybe. Can you strip the slide and share photos?
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
Never before the otpic cut
eggiam@reddit
yeah strip the slide and post some pics of the top and underside
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
eggiam@reddit
you need to take all the parts of of the slide so we can see.
but that looks like the shittiest cut ever. Did they do it by hand??
Historical_Truth2578@reddit
They did it with a Katana lmao
f250suite@reddit
Nah, they use teeth
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
What can I do?
Historical_Truth2578@reddit
Im....really not sure bro, ive never seen anything like this, how much did you pay for the gun and the cut
I would assume whoever did the drilling drilled into something they weren't supposed to
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
I’ll take it back to them tmr I paid $125 from a gun shop
PonyThug@reddit
Why in the world would you pay $40 more than eager machine works charges for the best milling in the industry lolololololol
SpiritCrusher421@reddit
The dude probably didn’t know any better
PonyThug@reddit
Well yea obviously. You would think you would do like 30 -60 mins of research about it on reddit before picking a service. Especially since he was quick to post here for help after there is an issue
SpiritCrusher421@reddit
“You would think”
Come on now lol
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
These guys were local and 3 day turnaround time I like my shit quick I’ll just buy another guy the M and P 2.0 decent?
PonyThug@reddit
So now you’re going to buy a full new gun because you couldn’t wait a bit? Just buy a second slide at that point.
Historical_Truth2578@reddit
Yes just buy an optic ready MP and leave it alone
jwalk999@reddit
Dawg they owe you a new gun and then some.
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
I can see the bottom of the drill holes it just shows steep
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
Here
EndlessSummerburn@reddit
Damn son
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
But I removed
Hakashi57@reddit
You have to disassemble the slide components, what they want you to do, so you can inspect under the slide cut, if there's any damage.
Here's a disassembly video on the 509, slide disassembly starts at the 41:00 min mark:
https://youtu.be/q5jCh4Va18Y?si=TBahjGhB4e6eXXZP
IntenseSpirit@reddit
Does it cycle with the optic off?
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
No
IntenseSpirit@reddit
That's not good. They definitely drilled into something important. I'd put my money on the safety plunger channel.
My first recommendation is to Karen the hell out of the place that butchered your gun and get them to replace it.
But if you don't want to do that, you'll need to do a complete slide disassembly and find out where those holes poke out. Then remove any metal burrs left in there, replace any parts that got drilled into, then reassemble and test again.
You'll probably have to shave down your optic screws too, so they don't thread into any moving parts.
giarcnoskcaj@reddit
Looks like they plugged where the safety plunger and spring are supposed to go.
gunsforevery1@reddit
Why would you get an optic cut on such a piece of shit pistol?
PhysicalRepublic6767@reddit (OP)
I got fun money
lowkey_wannabe@reddit
Do you have any research skills by chance?
GarthDonovan@reddit
Is this the one were the guys shoots his penis off? Too afaid to keep watching.
