I hope the audience realizes you can't just suddenly increase your payload by that much and be sure you still have enough thrust. An engineer would know that.
Watched it the other day and my parents instantly said "Guardians of the Galaxy" the moment Cochrane put on that music. And now I can't see this without imagining Troi flinching at "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI'M Hooked on a Feeling..."
Imagine it's 2063. Earth has just been ravaged by nuclear war. Communications satellites have been blasted out of the sky. Network infrastructure has been obliterated and EMPs have fried all servers and databases so the only way to retain any classic music is to store them on durable laser etched disks. I believe it.

Should have been "Highway To Hell"

I love how Jeordi is back there like "Dude.. WTF."

How did history explain the two mysterious assistants that flew with him?

Sadly no one ever remembers the other two astronauts.

This whole film was a violation of the Temporal Prime Directive. They spend the entirety of their time on Earth informing humans of future events.

Insert 2009s remaster of Beastie Boys - Sabotage

It’s a decidedly goofy scene, but I still love it. Honestly First Contact is my favorite of all the Next Generation movies.

I still think that Vulcans made contact not because of humanity made warp drive, but Cochran's sweet playlist 🎶

Is it this playlist?
Zefram Cochrane’s Space Jams

“Captain, while primitive and violent, these people are also clearly skilled in the use of distortion and reverb to augment hot licks.”

Man, some of the tech in the TNG movies are so corny and dated, which is surprising compared to the show.
The space drumset is one I remember being really lame. I think that was Insurrection.
Surely they wouldn't just have space CDs in the future.

These laser etched disks… would they be compact?

Agreed, im guessing Spotify isn’t gonna be available lol

On the other hand, he’s obeying a very important engineering principle: keep it simple.
All he needed was a Walkman plugged into the aux. Most media solutions today are way over engineered compared to that

Upvote for the Magic Carpet Ride, but NASA is but a shadow of it's glorious past nowadays...

I agree but I still have goosebumps
