Fuck man why can't we get commercial hiluxes in the states? Is it because of govt imposed safety standards and red tape or is it because the govt/ceos would never allow us to have an option for a reliable new vehicle for $20k? Idk man I'm kinda retarded but

I looked it up awhile ago and basically the Hilux is a smaller truck made for countries with smaller roads than the US, so Toyota decided we get the Tacoma instead while the rest of the world gets the Hilux.

Only way to get one is having it subject to import fees in excess of 20% or something like that and it’s just cost prohibitive at that point so no Americans really have them.

There's also some emissions standards bullshit and how we classify vehicles. Puts the Hilux into a different bracket with stricter requirements, even though for it's size it should be fine. Just some classic gubmint meddling by dumb bitches wearing suits that cost more than my first and second cars put together.
