I flipped my boat once when it didn’t have positive flotation. It turtled then sank about four feet under before I realized one of the lines was wrapped around my ankle and pulling me under. I dove down and freed myself but scared me good
When my brother and I raced that boat as teens, my dad made me always carry a Barlow rigging knife to cut myself free in just such an event.
Word to the wise. Those loose lines could be more than just an eye sore.
Nice, I was in the same spot like 6 months ago. First few trips were a bit messy but you pick it up quick. What helped me was just getting used to charts and planning short routes early. I think I even used some stuff from Amnautical at one point, made things a bit easier to understand.

A101, raced on one many times. Great boat, a little skinny, a little wet in a seaway, but super fun and points as high as any masthead.
