Off shore health insurance - Candian

Hi! My husband and I are about to start RYA yachtmaster training on the UK. We are having a hack of a time fixing travel health insurance that covers offshore - the only options we have found require UK residency. And much of the US coverage is super experience because it also covers for US health care. (We have no plans to go to the US so this is not needed).
Any suggestions welcome! 🙏

Sorry, I'm confused,
Are you canadian?

Yes we are Canadian. I have a UK passport but my husband does not.

Ok, and do you reside in a Canadian province with current provincial coverage?
If so, check out https://www.sonomad.com/ We used them for our first year of travel.
Insurance is very dependent on where you live. Also, if you are just out of Canada for that class, call your credit card, maybe you will be covered if you bought the class and plane ticket with the credit card.

Our credit card only covers us for 30 days - we will be gone for a few months. I’ll check out your reco - thanks!

Are you not aware that even without health insurance the NHS will still treat you?
They'll bill you after you're healthy, but it's at NHS rates, not American rates - unfortunately you're not an Aussie or Kiwi, in which case it would be free as in free with no issues at all:

Yes. My husband broke his arm sailing in the UK two years ago and had an $8k bill. We can handle that - but if he needed brain surgery or something more traumatic - I’d like the comfort of not having to worry about it.

Try DAN - Divers Apart Network. They do good insurance that will protect you, and is reasonably priced. It's not just for divers.

Second DAN, it's the only insurance scheme I've ever seen that isn't actively trying to drain you for every cent in your possession and then leave you for dead.

Self insure. And, choose to sail in places where emergency rescue is at no charge and emergency hospital care is also at no charge or reasonable. It's handy that your King is also the king of the UK.

just pay direct. if you have the cash for staying in the UK and doing yachtmaster (wtf?) you can certainly afford out of pocket.
P.S. canadian schools will give you ICC with CEVNI which is all you need. https://www.iytworld.com/courses/international-certificate-of-competency-icc/
