I’ve mentioned this on the last couple times we’ve posted them, the Turkish ones have a better finish, but these are more reliable; they don’t have the very common extraction issues you can see everyone on the MP5 sub (me included) have with the AP5/MAC ones
Yes but some of the Turkish clones have minor fitment issues. I have a PTR 9kt that I dressed up as a classic MP5K-PDW, and the choate stock and broom handle handguard have a little bit of play to them that apparently is not present on MP5's made on actual HK tooling.
Yeah I was kind of disappointed, but it's one of those things you notice when you are playing around with the gun but not really when you are shooting it. The 1913 stock adapter that came with the gun seems like a very snug fit so I am probably going to run that with a Sig minimalist stock.
It’s really a ‘just shoot the damn thing’ deal. I did fix the slack on my adapter using just layers of masking tape until it fit snug. There hasn’t been much damage to it and it’s worked well so far. I love my PTR. They didn’t install my extractor correctly at first though, and I had to fix that

Can confirm, I have both and the AP5 is better in fit and finish. Also the AP5 is less picky with magazines, my POF will not use AC-Unity magazines and my AP5's run them flawlessly.
I'd say good - a few of the welds at certain seams were a little bumpy, but nothing that bothers me. The full metal lower and flawless running so far are what matter most personally.
Thats the point though, you want the nicest one if this is going to be a lifetime purchase.
Yes, an HK SP5 is technically a clone of their MP5, as its semi auto only and has full auto denial features, that said, it shares many of the same parts, made by the same company in Germany and imported into the USA. Its as close as you're getting to a real MP5 unless you pay $100k for transferable pre 86' police import MP5.
Yeah man , I have the rare breed drop in cassette trigger for the SP5 and it’s fucking amazing. 5 min install, no bullshit slip trip shit, no AR fire control shit or 3d printer Lowers.
Fair stance, depends on each person's financial situation and how much they care about having the nicest one. I hope this doesn't violate the subreddit rules, but I expect Virginia to do mass confiscation in the next 10-20 years, so I wouldn't consider it a lifetime purchase anyway.
On board with you there. After getting a super safety, red dot, few other accessories/replacing internals, 3 cases of ammo, you're still likely well under the sp5 cost
I have an AP5 and my understanding is that if you care about finish then that is the way to go. Heard no functional issues with the POF just finish and big roll marks from the importer.
This does have the traditional metal lower and is a couple hundred cheaper than the AP5 at the moment
I have one of these and it has been extremely reliable for me. It's ate everything I've fed it without issue. The gun is painted and I did have a little rust under the handguard when I purchased it but haven't had any issues once that was treated and repainted. Ended up replacing the lower with an HK polymer and was able to sell the metal lower for a couple hundred bucks. I know folks have had issues with their POFs but this has actually been more reliable for me than either of my AP5s.
A lot of ap5s have ejection issues. It's normally easily solved by h&k German ejector, extractor, and associated springs. But it's common and money you have to spend. I bought my ap5p used and it would choke on its own brass every 2-3 rounds until I gave it fancy German parts, but since then it's been 100% reliable.
These have only been imported sporadically for the last few years so this info could be out of date, but the main reason to buy a POF is that they are actually stamped MP5, the main detractor is the finishes which tend to be really bad and flake off. Also, I do not think these have any warranty.

This is a great deal - however, once you factor in shipping, you can get a similar priced Century Arms AP5 from one of many websites (check gundeals for specifics).
I have the military versions of both POF5 and POF4 (reverse stretch). Never had any issues. They run just as well as my SP5’s. Fit and finish is nowhere as nice though
I have one of the older "reverse stretch" models. I never really had issues. I'd say within the first 200 rounds there were some stove pipes, that was with 115 grain. Once I started hitting it with 124 it's been smooth and no issues with MKE or KCI mags honestly. It's even "super safe" now and it's fun as hell.

I'd say good - a few of the welds at certain seams were a little bumpy, but nothing that bothers me. The full metal lower and flawless running so far are what matter most personally.

Yes, an HK SP5 is technically a clone of their MP5, as its semi auto only and has full auto denial features, that said, it shares many of the same parts, made by the same company in Germany and imported into the USA. Its as close as you're getting to a real MP5 unless you pay $100k for transferable pre 86' police import MP5.

Fair stance, depends on each person's financial situation and how much they care about having the nicest one. I hope this doesn't violate the subreddit rules, but I expect Virginia to do mass confiscation in the next 10-20 years, so I wouldn't consider it a lifetime purchase anyway.

I have an AP5 and my understanding is that if you care about finish then that is the way to go. Heard no functional issues with the POF just finish and big roll marks from the importer.
This does have the traditional metal lower and is a couple hundred cheaper than the AP5 at the moment

I have one of these and it has been extremely reliable for me. It's ate everything I've fed it without issue. The gun is painted and I did have a little rust under the handguard when I purchased it but haven't had any issues once that was treated and repainted. Ended up replacing the lower with an HK polymer and was able to sell the metal lower for a couple hundred bucks. I know folks have had issues with their POFs but this has actually been more reliable for me than either of my AP5s.

A lot of ap5s have ejection issues. It's normally easily solved by h&k German ejector, extractor, and associated springs. But it's common and money you have to spend. I bought my ap5p used and it would choke on its own brass every 2-3 rounds until I gave it fancy German parts, but since then it's been 100% reliable.

These have only been imported sporadically for the last few years so this info could be out of date, but the main reason to buy a POF is that they are actually stamped MP5, the main detractor is the finishes which tend to be really bad and flake off. Also, I do not think these have any warranty.

The Turkish ones have a better finish, but these are more reliable; they don’t have the very common extraction issues you can see everyone on the MP5 sub (me included) have with the AP5/MAC ones

I have the military versions of both POF5 and POF4 (reverse stretch). Never had any issues. They run just as well as my SP5’s. Fit and finish is nowhere as nice though

I have one of the older "reverse stretch" models. I never really had issues. I'd say within the first 200 rounds there were some stove pipes, that was with 115 grain. Once I started hitting it with 124 it's been smooth and no issues with MKE or KCI mags honestly. It's even "super safe" now and it's fun as hell.
