I read this three times before I realized it didn’t say “Sea Creature”

acshually us land dwellers are rather toasted than cooked, but eh, semantics

You were fine until you said implied they were using the wrong semantics… Cook: 1. To prepare (food) for eating by applying heat.  2. To prepare or treat by heating.  "slowly cooked the medicinal mixture." 3. To alter or falsify so as to make a more favorable impression; doctor.  "disreputable accountants who were paid to cook the firm's books." It does not **need** to include liquid. Land dwellers can well be cooked. I think you might be thinking Boiled or Sous Vide.

And the Colorado River aquifers are already strikingly low. I imagine the US will use what’s left of its global influence and most of its credit to buy crops from poorer nations corrupt leadership in order to ensure the rabble still has the bread portion of the bread and circus. That won’t last however. This is, as is always, happening faster than expected.

Last year was like 90° every day it seemed. Everyone where I live complained. No one got shit done outside because it was so awful. I cannot imagine how shitty this summer is going to be.

We might see a quiet hurricane season in the Atlantic though.

That means wildfires out east. There's an unfortunate tradeoff to these sorts of systems.

Well that's lovely for the Atlantic. Spare a thought for us in the Pacific that will most likely not be as fortunate.

Assuming that the El Niño drifts back towards the neutral, which it might, but that's not always a guarantee. I'm going to hope that for all of us that the hurricanes won't be as bad as I fear they will be, no matter which area of the world they form.

In other news, most of the National Forest Service is getting fired. That chart might really start ticking up as the trees go down.

Don't know about everywhere else, but I also use this [NWRFC 10 day](https://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/weather/10_day.cgi). Plus on the homepage I can look at river forecasts to see flood risks.

This time of year is supposed to bring a seasonal upwelling in southern california, where strong winds over the ocean stir the waters enough that deep ocean waters rise to the surface and hot surface water is eventually pushed down. This gives predictable rain events and steady weather to the central valley. This year, though, it appears to be 'stuck' or otherwise missing, because the wind speeds over the ocean have been unusually low, perhaps because of this big hot area.

The beaches are way warmer than they should be this time of year. Hardly any strong wind events in the Santa Barbara channel in the past six weeks, when we would normally have a few

When I was a kid I spend more than one weekend camped on a cliff overlooking the ocean with my dad using early versions of gps to measure sea height and infer temperature. Being camped in a ref with a bunch of dorky scientists builds…character maybe? Iunno
