Moving to Plano TX, looking to make friends!

27 female, loves reading (psych thriller/horror), health & wellness (esp skincare), animals (desperately looking to do baby goat yoga), eating as much as a human being literally can, and the absolute dumbest dad jokes you can possibly think of. Would love to also meet some people with OCD, as that's a big part of me too.
Also if anyone knows of any social groups or clubs in the area let a girl know. Making friends as an adult as hard as shit. Thanks everyone :)

I’m not OCD but ADHD …. It’s not fun lol. But I’m up in Frisco.

Not sure where you’re moving from, but if it’s from outside of DFW definitely check out Recycled Books in Denton, Neighbor Books in McKinney, and Interabang Books in Dallas. Interabang has a couple of book clubs, and I think Neighbor Books does too. Regarding health and wellness, Plano has some great parks. Oak Point is one of my favorites, but there’s lots of good ones. McKinney’s Heard Museum and Nature Preserve is also worth a visit. The drive up to The Colony to WorldSprings is also totally worth in, even if it is a bit spendy.

Have you been to Bibliobar in Historic Downtown Plano? It’s a great indie bookstore
GuitaristExplorer@reddit
No, I’ll have to check it out.

Don’t do it , it’s a trap !! Turn back hahaha 🤪. Don’t look at me I’m a neurodivergent. 44 been here most of my life. Operation kindness is a cool place. No kill shelter. I’d take all the pits/amstaff/staffie/ and bullies if I could.
Willing_Ad_8062@reddit (OP)
I've seen a couple comments reference Operation Kindness so will definitely check it out!

Hi! I work at opkhs and can answer any question you may have! We also don’t use the term no kill anymore.
spideraquarium@reddit
Can I play with the staffies amstaff pits and bullies 🤓. Any suggestions on training a 2 1/2 year old staffie that seems neurodivergent.

33M introvert and an engineer here. I also navigate life with OCD and adulting is definitely a grind, so I’d love to connect with someone who actually gets how the "always-on" brain works.

Meetup groups are a great way to meet people. Young Adult groups at the large churches, local Pilates classes, book clubs, or join a walking group.

If you think its hard at 27 wait until you hit your 40's and 50's, lol.

I can meet 35% of that criteria! (didn’t do the math… rough estimate). Down for some goat yoga, hate reading but love a good true crime podcast on a long car ride, I love skincare and could use a buddy to go get a facial or botox for the first time. I LOVE dogs and food. I’ve grown up in Plano so I’m happy to welcome you to the area! DM me if my boring ass lifestyle is of interest lol (btw I’m a female in my early 30s)
adriftinw0nderland@reddit
Wait can I join this too 🥲 I’m 30, grew up in Frisco and just moved back after 8 years in Colorado and also looking for some girl friends in the area!
I’m into all things skincare/wellness (just started doing mat Pilates at home) and would absolutely try goat yoga lol, love finding new restaurants or cocktail bars, into true crime, and also just started getting into reading as a hobby (dark romance so far haha)
Confident-Peach7989@reddit
Same here! 🙋🏻♀️ I’m 31 and it’s been hard for me to make friends, moved to Plano last year 😅 and like reading, into true crime, wellness started doing it recently and love foods! I love cats and dogs, I have a lot of cats 😅😂

I'm literally a 27 year old geriatric who has no idea how to start a group chat on Reddit but we should all connect!
Mary_jan@reddit
The best things I did to make friends: Joined a local rec league / beer league. I did kicball, and even though they didn't check every box I thought I'd need in friends, they're so fun and I hang w them every week now :). I went thru lone star sports to join.
Volunteer at wherever you like. I volunteer at the library and operation kindness, an animal shelter, both of which are within your interests.
If you're into crafts, it's west Carrollton, but Dallas makerspace is amazing if you can afford the subscription (but some classes are open to non members). And the people there are really cool!
But other than that, just sign up for classes within your interest, like goat yoga or something. I had more luck signing up for stuff than I ever had on bumble bff.

Hi girl! I’m 25 and also have OCD and don’t know anyone else who has it. Always happy to discuss!! My hobbies include music/music collecting, gaming, and various crafts c:

I agree, I moved here 4 months ago and it been rough making friends 😥
JustJamieJam@reddit
I get that, moved here two years ago and still haven’t met anyone I have any real interest in being friends with. I think part of it is that I havnt found anyone around here that’s my age (early 20s)

You’d get along great with my sister. She loves listening to thriller audiobooks on Libby.

You are going to have a very hard time making friends in a world that doesn't understand us.
impendingfuckery@reddit
I don’t know about any specific groups for those things. But once you move down here; and have yourself settled in. You might be able to find groups for your hobbies through apps like Eventbrite. Which you can customize your interests and find groups that host events about certain topics. I’ve been to a few places in the metroplex to try and meet people who share my interests.
