Its the same premise as to why race cars get stiffer suspension, frame rail reinforcements and other structural reinforcement like a strut tower bar so they are stiffer afterwards but then you literally feel every bump and pothole.

There have been haters since day one on these because it's aluminum and not steel, and apparently those haters only think it's metal if it's made from steel. The M&P HD just landed this year. It's actually steel. To avoid confusion and draw attention to the difference, I thought it made sense to put metal in quotes.

I own one of the aluminum ones and I think people are crazy for that tbh. I far prefer it to the polymer frame m&p. Despite what a lot of people say, it is heavier and I don't notice the recoil being "harsh".
I think it's worth the extra cash personally and I'm not just saying that as an owner.
