Might be a real cynical way to look at it, but even if she’s trying to leach off him, then look at it as purely transactional.
She’s giving him the emotional and physical attachment he wants and needs, and he’s supporting her financially. The kid definitely likes him, he’s not really old enough to even understand that kind of entrapment.
Would you be upset if you hired a prostitute and knew she didn’t actually love you?
But that’s even looking at it in a worst possible interpretation.
Real worst possible way to look at it is that anon is only doing the “funcle” things (going out places and buying nice shit) for the kid. If that relationship goes somewhere he might be the person who just financially supports the kid and SO. However I’d imagine any serious relationship (that is projected to be a long term commitment like marriage), would include blending households and sharing some of the responsibilities of child rearing beyond being a piggy-bank.
If so, Being a parent will require you to do the not so fun things:
Getting zero sleep sometimes because your kid is sick (knowing you will catch what they have the moment they get over their cold)
Having to actually parent while being told by your kid you are the worst thing in their life (compounds it even more that anon is a step-parent who has to juggle not overstepping his boundaries).
Spending a lot of time (hours on end) making sure your child is receiving the emotional, social and physical needs they require and feeling like you always come short in some departments.
Doing all the above while trying to juggle the responsibilities of work and life as an adult with little to no relief because you are the adult in this situation.
Most of this “burden” is borne by mothers and most of it greatly lessens after a kid is about 6. And if anon loves the kid, none of it will be a burden.
It’s crazy how people change with kids they love. My brother was/still is one of the angriest people I know, but has such a bottomless well of patience and joy when dealing with his daughters I wonder if he’s been replaced.
They’re definitely past the hardest part already, and if Anon genuinely loves this child then I think he’ll manage.
I want to preface this with the statement that I disagree with none of your points. All of that could happen, and it WOULD be worse.
That being said, we’re not talking about whether or not Anon is prepared for the responsibilities of being a parent. We’re talking about the risk of this woman having identified his vulnerability and using it as a means of financial exploitation.
That be like me worrying about an upcoming job interview, my buddy lets me know the worst that could happen is they say no, and then you chime in to inform me I could get stabbed on my way to the office. Yea I could, and being stabbed would suck, but that’s not what I was concerned with.
Yes. He stepped up. It shows responsibility and compassion (definitely more than the original father) and the kid gets a solid father figure where there otherwise wouldn't be one.
There’s no way you didn’t embarrass yourself being a 27yo Virgin with a mom who probably banged a couple dozen in her day. Anon lasted 30seconds stiff as a board while she rode him cause he didn’t know what to do. She’s cooking you in her group chats rn
Hey, if you want a woman that doesn't hold any value in sex, be my guest. Just don't come crying to me when she has sex with someone else and claims it didn't mean anything so it's okay.
This usually ends with insert incredibly rare and bizarre scenario
Why would he look after the kid if the break up? Genuinely don't understand where you're getting your ideas about relationships but this, like, doesn't usually happen in the real world.
It’s genuinely just pessimism. Anon could have found a dollar on the ground and people would be like ‘it’s very likely to be coated in anthrax and you’re gonna die’
In my experience the kid will eventually do something that makes his mom's boyfriend leave, ruining her happiness and proving once again that the boy is nothing but a burden for her, and that everyone would have been a lot happier if I had just never existed.
That is absolutely not true, my real father is the husband of my mum who once was the boyfriend. The guy who is the reason for half of my genes can go and suck a fat cock
I don't know about him, but my Dad was dating the office secretary for a while, until tiny me came over to her house, and tried to make stovetop popcorn. Turns out I didn't know how to do that and I flooded her kitchen with popcorn. I don't know for sure that that's why they broke up, but it did happen fairly shortly after that. With a couple decades of retrospect, that's pretty funny.
??? 800 upvotes on a comment that says when you date a single mom you'll end up... not being with the chick and taking care of a kid that isn't yours? Be real right now, there's so many downsides to dating single moms and you chose to make shit up.
The real downsides are usually it's not some innocent kid who just needs a father figure, it's a creature spawn from Hell conjoining the worst sides of their mother and father into one awful abomination, the two of them then sap you financially and eventually do leave you destitute for the baby daddy when he's done with his bender or being in prison or whatever fucked off stuff he's up to.
What's not going to happen though is that you date a single mom, she leaves you, but... leaves her kid with you that you have no ties to, lol
Then that’s your choice. Most women I know wouldn’t have their kids stay on contact with an ex unless the ex AND kid really wanted to maintain that relationship. And sometimes not even then.
Uncle is generally used if there's someone that's basically family that's in the older generation. Normal where I am at least, was plenty of "aunts" and "uncles" that I wasn't actually related to. I used to refer to my stepdad as "uncle x" when I was little as well.
I grew up like that too but none of my “uncles” or “aunts” had fucked my parents. They in fact tried to discourage one of my crushes because the person I had it on was my “cousin”
She won't encourage the kid to call the guy she's been seeing for 2 months 'dad'. Uncle does not mean relation. You would call your dad's friends uncle right?
Yes it depends on the culture. I lived in China for 20 years and it's very common to call older people "aunty" or "Uncle" (It;s actually considered pollte.) . in fact "Aiyi" (Which is something you call older women workers) literally means "Aunty".
My brother was in this situation, though the single mom was his same age. She married her boyfriend she had been with since middle school, had a kid, and he started being very controlling and shitty, so she left him after trying to make it work. Now she's been happy with my brother for around 6 years and they now have a daughter together. Plenty of single mothers out there who are decent and chill people.
Because she married her highschool sweetheart and they got a child with 25 and realized they drifted apart and developed totally differently and divorced?
Bro this whole thread is so bizarrely sad. Just guys who have never been in a relationship regurgitating Andrew Tate -levels fantasies of what happens when two people start dating. A generation of men having their realities infected by nonsense.

Let's say anon is also NEET. If she makes 10X more than he ever would have, OK to marry her but DON'T adopt
Worst case he gets fucked a lot until she gets bored like she did with her son's father, then anon also got a free place to live for a couple years. The kid already knows how to call men he just met "uncle" so there may be a pattern here..
How do you know she got bored with her son’s father and that it’s not the father who got bored with her? My son’s father left me for a college cheerleader. How was I supposed to compete with that??
I've no children of my own, but I have multiple young people I mentor, some I've mentored for 10-15+ years, I don't want the weight and anguish and stress of fatherhood. But unclehood is treating me fine.
In the last few weeks a few of my young folks called me Uncle Iroh or Gandalf.

Because its easy to judge others when you think they have made poor decisions. Lots of projection involved too. Those stereotypes have no consideration for widows or even amicable splits.
Finding a single woman with no kids who he can have his own kids with. He won't have to worry about reality hitting if an ex, their friends, or family show up to stir trouble, with him in the middle.
Story was real except the single mom was a guy, there was no kid and anon is a power bottom but didn't want to be out and proud about it so he wrote this fiction
I like the nice ones like this from time to time . Usually dating moms tend to be a lil more stable because they truly don’t have time to waste so if they like you they are using the little amount of free time they have to give to you
