For the whole vehicle being stolen: install a kill switch. If you want to make ABSOLUTELY sure it won’t be stolen, install a second kill switch. Parts being stolen is harder to protect against. Consider this “deterrent” rather than foolproof. For your catalytic converter (cat), install a cage and stamp your VIN onto it (some police departments offer cheap VIN stamping). For your wheels, install locking lug nuts. Neither of these things will stop a determined thief who has a portable grinder or sawzall and time, but they will help. Nothing will stop a determined thief who has enough time on their hands and enough skill. If you are legit that worried, you should sell the car and buy a POS.

Which router? The more kill switches the harder it is for someone to find them all but like, if you have to flip 10 switches every morning then that is clearly not handy. You can probably just add 1 and be fine. I don’t think the vehicle you’re describing is worth a particularly paranoid level of security.

Use layered deterrents: a steering wheel lock, hidden GPS tracker, kill switch, and an OBD port lock, plus a good alarm this makes the car much harder and less attractive to steal.

You can't protect every part of the vehicle. Keep it locked, in a visible spot and preferably within sight of security cameras is about all you can do. A remote relay is also an option. Hard wired front and rear dash cams with parking recording features with a "your being recorded" sticker on 1 of the windows, anti-theft bolts on your wheels and license plates and maybe put a cover over it when you know your not gonna be driving it for long periods of time.

If I had a CRV, I’d leave it unlocked, keys in the ignition, collect the insurance money and buy a real car. Haha, just kidding. Club and kill switch is probably the best way to prevent. Also, leave nothing in the vehicle that would entice a smash-and-grab. Make it easy to see that there’s nothing in the very back. Leave a back seat folded so looking is easier.

Get an older CRV? I sold a Kia Soul because three theft attempts in three months that trashed the car. Sold to CarMax for $6600 and got a 2010 CRV that was cosmetically 90%, and spent the price difference in bringing the maintenance up to perfection. Drives like new but nobody gives a fuck about a 2010 soccer mom car.

What year CRV? While you can't completely deter a thief (well maybe you can), you can certainly slow one down. Assuming you own a 97-01, I recommend installing a kill switch; they make it really to install now. You can buy a plug and play kill switch from JDI [here](https://www.jordandistributors.com/products/main-relay-conversion-with-kill-switch?variant=42266923630781). If it's a newer CRV, you can still wire it up yourself. Very nice, those are easy to work on as well. You can find a diagram on which wire to tap into. If you do look into wiring your own kill switch, let me know, I can find you the diagram to work off of. Highly recommend the pedal lock though.

I just picked up my GF Honda Accord from Police impound yard today. It was stolen over the weekend and abandoned like a block away because I had a Steering wheel Lock on and they couldn't break it. I threw it on because ppl r stealing Honda Airbag. There are several ways to prevent theft, Alarm, Kill switch, Bug your OBD connector, air Tag, etc... but it doesn't stop these shit head from breaking your car. You either need to get a Garage, move to a different neighborhood, or stop buying cars from the Top 10 most stolen list.

They only manage to move it slightly back and forth, and they abandoned it in the middle of the road, and the Police impounded it. They couldn't remove the lock, buy destroyed it, now I have to cut off the lock myself. Either way, it sucked. My cousin's father in law had a CRV a few years ago, he had to get rid of it cuz the thief keeps cutting off his Cat Converter. My dad's friend got his new Lexus stolen summer last year off his friend's driveway when he went to Canada. It is just part of life living in the city for us, lol... If you want a 99% fool proof way to mitigate car theif, you need a Garage. Thief r less brazen breaking into people's home at least.

A good operator with a snatch truck can grab any vehicle in a few seconds that isn’t locked in a very secure garage. Thankfully most car thieves aren’t that determined. Just making it look like the other car is easier will deter about 98 percent..

Lame. There's not a strong correlation between "red" or "blue" states and vehicle theft rates. TN has more theft than NY, MO has more than MN, on and on. It's more about the specific area, state-level politics has nothing to do with it. I've had 2 vehicles stolen in my lifetime, both in red counties in TX.

Club on the steering wheel, and a switch wired behind the dash that cuts the ignition / battery. Most thieves are looking for an easy steal, and a club is a visual deterrent. If they're really determined and ready to cut it off, they will get stuck by the hidden switch. I am going to be honest. I don't think a CRV is a high risk target like a collector or sports car like a Hellcat or something.
