Tavern - new centralized reddit alternative. Mobile apps on the way, try on web if you want!

It's classic centralized platform, no fediverse connection, no blockchain. It solves 4 biggest reddit problem:
1 - power mods: limit 1 community per user
2 - bots - reddit has door open for all kinds of bots. This one won't. Currently it's similarly open, but thats just to not make it hard for new users to use the site, antibot measures will be added later
3 - gamification - reddit is very gamified and users produce content just for the sake of producing content. Thats bad. No gamification on tavern
4 - political bias - reddit is heavily left biased. I dont have any technical solution here, any algorithm and I dont think anybody can come up with anything. Utlimately its about trust. And all I can say is I will try to keep it fair for everybody.
There is no gamechanging feature, pretty much reddit experience before all the the bullshit. Will work on some performance issues soon. Mobile probably coming soon as well.
So. Give it hard time. It has some anti NSFW measures but please refrain from testing that.
Appreciate any feedback. Peace

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why is everyone building an exact copy of reddit? It's not the way the platform is that makes it successful. It's the content and people. And imo building an exact copy just makes you one of those people trying to live off the success but you'll never understand what kind of ecosystem and structure is behind Reddit. Sure, Reddit has a lot of flaws, but despite so, people wouldn't leave to an exact copy. They'll just stay where they are.

This exactly. I find out about this sub recently and idk it's pretty boring seeing all these clones. Also I'm not a fan of over promising. A lot of posts say "we're gonna stop bots and power bots" but they got a 3-month vibe coded app with basic ass client-side limits. You know you can still easily bot that, not all bots spam. lmao. Still fun to see people try but man less vibe code please.

Especially another centralized copy with all the issues that brings.

Because a lot of people like what Reddit was 5-10 years ago before it got all the mass power mods and tin pot tyrants banning people from half the site because they don't like your politics or something, and then perma banning if you dare to ask them about it.
People like the system, and liked the people that USED to be able to use it, not the tin pot tyrant dictatorship fiefdoms it has largely become.

Nah, reddits focus on communities helps keep discussions focused, less like random blurted out thoughts that don't do much but go viral.

This is what's making me avoid a lot of alternatives. After years of using the Reddit layout I'm getting kind of tired of it. Most of all, the upvote/downvote system.
Just personal preference, though.

I feel you. However the layout is optimized for user experience. Its very good. Reddit is more about content, not the looks really. And as for vote system - its not the UI, its the core funcionality. Every forum has vote system.

No offence. I'd love for others to experience the good old days. But if nobody uses it, I very much expected the little amount of enthusiasm. It took me like 9 days btw, "coding" after work if you know what I mean.
I like reddit experience, I just dont want all the bs it has with it. Specifically those 4 listed points.
Obviously its the people. But can a fresh site which wants to be an alternative say? Do I summon users? Should I create fake people on the site? Common, bro. Even reddit started from 0 users.
Success? It was just a forum, there is zero innovation on reddit. Its not science. Its just A/B testing and slow, iterative way of changing the platform to optimize for user count.
It's not the same. It solves things I listed, plus it has zero ads as a bonus.

Good domain, I think your trouble will be political bias, moderation and centralization. It hasnt been solved
keener91@reddit
At least he identified some of the problems - most of the developers for alternative failed it understand it - they just dig a new waterhole and tell people to drink from it cause they made it and it's new.
aVarangian@reddit
new.reddit copy unfortunately
the idea is good but imo limit of 1 sub is too restrictive. Some people may like to have a small private subreddit of their own even if just to mess around. Maybe make the max limit higher and require account age and/or karma.
ZallenDuZari@reddit
No NSFW... It won't last... Even Ruqqus had NSFW.
Normal-Walk3253@reddit (OP)
You think NSFW content is what keeps reddit alive? XD
Top-Grocery-1482@reddit
Might check it out. Reddit before the political echo chambering and tin pot dictatorship tyrants addicted to mutes and permabans was a cool place. I would love to see that place again.

I'll be definitely interested when there's a mobile app
