Best Cameo Ever by a TNG cast member

I have always found the idea of Michael Dorn and Patrick Warburton playing crappy cosplay versions of their most iconic characters to be one of the most meta things in Ted 2.
OinkyConfidence@reddit
Was particularly funny too because Dorn lost a bunch of weight after he 'quit' Worf in 2002's Star Trek Nemesis, making it even funnier when he did this cameo!
majin_melmo@reddit
Worf wasn’t in the Picard show? 🥺
killergazebo@reddit
That was after Ted 2.
majin_melmo@reddit
Oh okay, true. I haven’t seen Picard yet and would’ve been sad if Worf didn’t make an appearance.
WolfBST@reddit
Don't bother. The Picard series is not worth it...
CeruleanEidolon@reddit
Nah, it just doesn't have the gloss of nostalgia on it. If it were possible to be objective, it would probably rank on par with much of TNG. Certainly better on the whole than much of season 1.
WolfBST@reddit
First of all, we don't talk about TNG season 1. And secondly the main problem I have with it is that it's so uneven. It would have been an okay series if they had known what to do with it. The first season had a pretty good premise but they tried to much at once. They could've spread that plotline over the three seasons. Season 2 was complete dogshit. Season 3 was pure nostalgia bait that could've worked and was ultimately what the majority of the fanbase wanted but the story was so bland and predictable that I was never really immersed in what happens next
blindreefer@reddit
Do we not? I’m not really a Trekkie by any means. I saw the last couple of seasons of TNG as they were airing when I was very young but haven’t watched anything Star Trek related until I binged the first season over the last few days and I was really surprised at how much I liked it.
DoomedToGrind@reddit
The main benefit of watching Picard is that it makes you appreciate Enterprise a lot more.
PunishedTlacuache@reddit
Watch the last season. It's great
BetterVantage@reddit
I would personally say “It has great PARTS.” And it does, along with many, many bad parts.
Ike_In_Rochester@reddit
I’d say Worf’s story in season 3 is possibly the best.
PunishedTlacuache@reddit
I just liked it for the nostalgia porn. Seeing LaForge and Data strutting down halls of the Enterprise was awesome
petemill@reddit
As far as I remember we don't see any halls or any other sets apart from the bridge, which was a problem for me as it just feels virtual.
BetterVantage@reddit
100%. Don’t get me wrong, I’m SO glad we have it. It felt like a true send off for the TNG crew.
And the first episode with Bevs going all Sarah Conner felt like finally giving her character the credit she deserved.
There’s a lot I love about it.
PunishedTlacuache@reddit
I agree with you that the rest of the series was... interesting. But that last season made up for it for me. Will I watch it again? No. Will I watch DS9 again? Yes
TimeTravelingPie@reddit
I'd rephrase to "It has parts, some with great actors"
AppropriateCap8891@reddit (OP)
And I am not sure it is the same when he appears as Worf.
Here, he was playing Rick, and wearing a bargain basement Worf costume. I mean, just look at how cheap that baldrick is.
OinkyConfidence@reddit
Yeah, and that helps sell the bit too, making it even funnier. He's the actual Worf actor, cosplaying as Worf, with cheap costuming and props. Hilarious.
WithASackOfAlmonds@reddit
he was but he was very svelt
strangway@reddit
Oh man, I loved The Tick
BriMaster9000@reddit
I wish Amazon hadn’t cancelled it
Alareth@reddit
HoundTakesABitch@reddit
I don’t understand why it didn’t last. It was literally just Seinfeld with superheroes.
owlpellet@reddit
Superheroes were not something with media cred until MCU blew the doors off a few years later.
HoundTakesABitch@reddit
Yeah, it sucks when things are ahead of their time. Same situation with Firefly being cancelled but then Guardians of the Galaxy being such a hit. It’s basically the same concept just happened at the perfect time.
strangway@reddit
Now the CW is nothing but comic book TV

The world just wasn't ready for such a magestic spoon, I think.

SPOOOOOOON
killergazebo@reddit
Is there anything Bezos won't take from us?
Thewallmachine@reddit
Such a good show. Beyond phenomenal cast. Sad, it had a short run.
HoundTakesABitch@reddit
The first season was fantastic. The second season not so much.
ImeldasManolos@reddit
That guy playing the tick was so hot
dotknott@reddit
Putty? Kronk? Sheriff Stone?

Sir Pat Stew on Frasier is a favorite of mine.
EngagedInConvexation@reddit
For the longest time, I thought Sir Pat Stew was gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Dunno why and I don't think Frasier is solely to blame, but I think It played a part.
It wasn't until he started posting grams with his girlfriend (now wife, maybe then too?) high as a fucking kite and livin life.
imnojezus@reddit
He’s not gay but his boyfriend is. That’s a joke, but I think there are more pictures online of him kissing Ian Mckellan then there are of his wife 😄
Electronic-Sell-6402@reddit
My favorite Patrick Stewart - Ian McKellan story was he was asked about if him and Ian do everything together and he said "yes. In fact one time I was next to him at a urinal and was curious if he was Gandalf the Grey or Gandalf the White. And turns out he is Gandalf the clean shaven."
imnojezus@reddit
Gandalf the Smooth is my new stripper name.
Dobako@reddit
Reminds me of April ludgate from Parks and Rec, "this is my husband Patrick, and thats his husband Ian"
Dr_Christopher_Syn@reddit
According to his own memoir, Sir Pat is a serial (hetero) cheater.
Due_Example1096@reddit
One of my favorite episodes in my absolute favorite show!
MJP87@reddit
But what about Peter O'Toole?
Rebel_Saint@reddit
Dr. Frasier Crane: I'm not gay.
Alistair Burke: Oh Frasier, please don't tell me you're still struggling with those issues.
Dr. Frasier Crane: Oh I like you so much and I love our friendship, but I'm afraid I could never be more than friends.
Alistair Burke: Would three weeks on Capri in Bertolucci's villa change your mind?
[thinks about it for a long long time]
Dr. Frasier Crane: It's worth a try.
HTired89@reddit
"he does not think I'm gay!"
"He thinks I'm gay and I'm standing next to my pregnant wife"
BusinessYou1657@reddit
Many pop in on Morgan Bateson’s ongoing holodeck program to check in on him. He’s mental health took quite a hit when he lost almost a century stuck in a time loop.

Michael Dorn as a psychologist on Castle

Brent Spiner on "Night Court"
AppropriateCap8891@reddit (OP)
I am not even sure that would count, as he did that before TNG.
He was actually offered a permanent spot on the show, but turned it down so he could play Data.
JohnnyEnzyme@reddit
That seems kind of wild to me, on the surface. A defendant who shows up every single week to the same court? Or maybe "permanent," in that he'd show up 3-4x a season or whatever.
SVNBob@reddit
IIRC, he was supposed to take over running the newsstand in the cafeteria.
AppropriateCap8891@reddit (OP)
Exactly. I read in several articles over the years this was the intent.
Dr_Christopher_Syn@reddit
Yep, they actually set up this idea in a season finale (IIRC) and then Spiner left between seasons for TNG.
majin_melmo@reddit
Thank god, I can’t imagine anyone else being Data!!
Singing_Wolf@reddit
He reprised the role in the new Night Court as well! Just as funny as ever, too!
rwalsh1981@reddit
Oh this was good because Patrick was the original Tick too.
NoraTheGnome@reddit
Original live action Tick. The character was originally portrayed by Townsend Coleman, though that was for the cartoon.
OM502@reddit
Micheal Dorn as the voice of I am weasel
Remote-Pie-3152@reddit
The Tick is more iconic than Brock “Swedish murder machine” Samson?
wikipediareader@reddit
I was going to say. I think Puddy is probably better known too. Kronk too.

Patrick Stewart in Robin Hood: Men In Tights
If we count recurring roles and music videos: Carel Struycken (Mr. Homn) in the video A.D.I.D.A.S. by KoRn.
AnswinPunk@reddit
Not really a cameo per se, but John de Lance as Alarak in Starcraft II ist so fitting. And I think Micheal Dorn also voiced in it but I can't remember which character he voiced.
Altruistic-Map1881@reddit
If we're talking voice work, how about the series Gargoyles?
drvondoctor@reddit
What about I AM WEASEL!
No_Engineer6452@reddit
When it comes to Patrick Warburton, any character is iconic
TheSnaxxx@reddit
No kidding. That scene had me laughing so hard I damn near had a stroke.
JMTone@reddit
This was an absolutely hilarious moment.
